HARDCORE. The four-piece from Milan, Italy have succeeded in creating a coherent, concise and abrasive hardcore record. "coarse", their 2nd full-length is a fantastic example of how a straight-forward hardcore record should be. It's visceral and unapologetic in its delivery and approach. Roughly 30min. - 11 songs, and a whole lot of pissed-off emotion - blasting, roaring shouts packed with a whirlwind of riffs going through a mixture of genres. Since their inception in 2012, COUNCIL OF RATS can be described as a blend of everything that hardcore has always stood for. Despite the fact that every song is a confrontation, there’s also a great deal of sensitivity contained the tracks. The emotional sensitivity doesn’t undermine the pure rage. Compared to their early work, "coarse" shows the band at their most confident, focused, and most importantly, their most viscerally impacting. "coarse" does not fail to deliver prompt and hyper effective firebrands. It’s fast and inflexible, conscious, angry and most of all, pissed as hell. "coarse" allows no time to catch your breath. COUNCIL OF RATS strikes fiercely and it’s still pretty good to hear such bands carry the torch of engaged music within the hardcore spectrum. Mastered by Brad/Audiosiege to get a scintillating result - the kind of record that hammers you from front to back - riffs aplenty, socio-political themed lyricism and musical complexity ensure an avid listener won’t get bored. Regardless of what you’re into, this is a record you have to hear. It's fast, it’s hardcore, it’s punk! Vinyl comes with an extra poster and includes a digital download card. [PK 076]

DOOM/SLUDGE. "ganz ins herz" is the 2nd full-length by CROWSKIN, a Potsdam-based five-piece of gals and guys who grew up somewhere between SABBATH heaviness and hardcore anger. Deeply rooted in the d.i.y. punk ethos and influenced by classic and contemporary sludge-metal stuff, they add a destructive noisy edge to all this and come up with an ultimate expression of hateful loneliness and despair. Singer Alexandra von Bolz'n expresses once more the disappointment of the human incapacity to interact and cooperate with exalted Stefan-Georgian lyrics, performed in ferocious and haunting screams and growls beyond usual human voice experience. The band teams up with merciless assaults of tormenting steamroller grooves and no-motion funeral dirges, built up to monstrous guitar walls, notorious bass rumbling, pounding drums and an ubiquitous Bonham-style ride cymbal - all this painfully soaked in feedback and noise. The vinyl includes 5 lenghthy pieces that bring you to a journey through the depths of human thoughts and feelings, enabling you to release your anger and let your hatred destroy. The CD additionally contains the previously released contributions to the "rot box" and the "a fucking tribute to hellhammer" compilations. CROWSKIN is proud being able to release this new album with the help of friends they know for a long time and on labels whose previous releases paved the way to the band's current outcome. Vinyl includes a digital download card. Doom on, tune down, pass out! [PK 071]

DEATH-METAL. DEATHRITE is undoubtedly the definite embodiment of the unholy alliance of music's heaviest spawns. Already smashing skulls and breaking necks with their previous releases, their 1st proper full-length "into extinction" even exceeds these earlier recordings with its uncontainable fury, knuckle-dragging brutality and filthy riff bombardment. DEATHRITE merged only the most severe elements of death-metal, grindcore, hardcore and punk to create an absolutely merciless, harsh record that stands out like a monument of savagery in nowadays watered down scene - a fact also valid for their forceful, stunning live performance that most likely turns into a beer- and blood-soaked mayhem. While on the "self-titled" debut even stronger hardcore influences mixed with fast grindcore passages were heard, on "into extinction" the old-school death-metal clearly takes the lead. The mood of the guys always reminds you a bit of early '90s ENTOMBED and DISMEMBER, the massiveness could also come directly from the pen of ASPHYX and everything is played with a crusty SKITSYSTEM or WOLFBRIGADE sound, which unstoppably whips forward. The re-press of "into extinction" (originally released in 2013) comes on orange translucent vinyl, with a lyricsheet, black innersleeve and includes a digital download card. This album crushes every fake ever! METAL/HARDCORE. It's really hard to describe the 8 tracks without mentioning the token words brutal and intense at the end of every sentence. DEATHRITE's noisy assault delivers the urgency of hardcore, the sheer brutality of extreme metal and the high speed attacks in the vein of your favourite power-violence bands - all wrapped up by the no-bullshit and fuck-you attitude of punk. Breakneck speeds, pounding percussion, raw vocals, and frantically raging guitars and bass round out their style which pleasantly scorches the eardrums. This splatter is caustic and merciless. It's an unrelenting torrent, an avalanche of thick grime and vitriol. There's so much hate spewed forth in such a short amount of time (18min.) that it takes a few listens to process everything that's going on. DEATHRITE are quick and to the point, dropping into each number like an unhinged guillotine blade. The band's sound is reminiscent of newer bands like NAILS, TRAP THEM and MIND ERASER, with an early '90s Earache Records (ENTOMBED and NAPALM DEATH) like crudity, complete with the grim production (mastered by Robin Völkert of Dean Dirg). The mysterious artwork is done by Paul Barsch of Julith Krishun. The one-sided LP comes with a screenprinted b-side, 350gr thick cover with reverse side printings, lyricsheet, black innersleeve and is housed in a polybag with sticker. You'll probably also find something to like on DEATHRITE - it's a promise! [PK 052]

METAL/HARDCORE. If there are still inviolated, hidden paths between raw hardcore and metal in its most damaged moments, GOLDUST is the privileged band to explore them. Raging like an elemental force, their 2 songs on this split leave the listener shattered and helpless, yet deeply moved by the blank honesty of the lyrical content. Think of bands like GEHENNA, CURSED or EYEHATEGOD. GOLDUST share this split with DEATHRITE - without a doubt one of the most promising bands today. They continue to push the envelope of extreme metal, infusing influences of hardcore, punk and d-beat. Their ripping hybrid in the vein of ENTOMBED, TRAP THEM or NAILS perfectly embodies the anger and rage of a generation that was born into a fucked up world like this. [PK 054]

HARDCORE. "the last dance" is the 2nd assault by these East-German band, after their selfproduced "trügerische stille" 7". Very tight aggressive and emotinal, modern '90s hardcore. Musicwise their 3 tracks are a great combination of harsh parts combined with melody and emotion. Intensity is the keyword for this band. This record is a fine example of what's come to be known as the famous (he he..) Per Koro style. If you dig bands like SHIKARI, ACME and other Per Koro bands of that time you'll love DEGARNE. Sadly they split up straight after releasing this 7" and never got the attention they deserve. Miss this at your own risk. [PK 028]

METAL/HARDCORE. DEPRAVATION plays a filthy mixture of hardcore, metal and crust. After their 2013 debut "II: maledictvm", the split with SLOWLY WE ROT showed the direction the band was heading to with the songs of their new release "feast with the rats". The current material is heavily influenced by death and black-metal (the vicious BOLT THROWER and MAYHEM style, not the ambient, progressive... 3rd wave crap), spawning 4 loathsome tracks somewhere between despair and fury. They sound ferocious across this record is angry as hell - pure anger - a swirling mass of guitar and bass pinned in by some great drumming with vocals like a sand blaster. It’s a rush, from one end to the other. If you are into BLIND TO FAITH, HESSIAN or WITHDRAWAL, you should definitely check this rager out. Don't worry about the genres - just feel the hate seething from this excellent mini-album. The one-sided, 180gr thick vinyl comes with a screenprinted b-side, a cover and inlay with incredibly blunt artwork by Gravedweller and includes a digital download card. [PK 075]

HARDCORE-PUNK. The debut full-length of those 5 sparkling, good looking men from South Germany (ex-almost everything; LUZIFERS MOB, DEAD BEAT, STACK, FEAR IS THE PATH TO THE DARKSIDE etc.). Formed in 1996, with a short break, they're back with the line-up of their legendary demo and recorded these 14 tracks of melodic, pissed off, rocking hardcore-punk with political, personal and cynical lyrics. This is the most innovative thing that happened to mankind since wet toilet paper and this is taking a piss on loserbands like early POISON IDEA, R.K.L. and others. DIAVOLO ROSSO is guided by the spirit of the '80s, but dusted-off! So do yourself a favour and swallow this pill of raging hardcore-punk! Vinyl version includes a CD version. [PK 040]

POST-HARDCORE. ENFOLD was a German hardcore band that existed between 1995 - 2001. They released a couple 7"s and broke up straight after releasing this full-length in 2000. Members went on in THE NOW-DENIAL and a couple to neglect indie-rock bands. ENFOLD were arguably one of the best German live bands around that time, and this master-piece with 14 recorded songs finally does them justice. Intense, angry and beautiful - these guys are in it with their hearts. A nice coverversion round off the whole record. [PK 030]

POST-HARDCORE. Both bands deliver us hot, exciting, brilliant and modern new-schoolish '90s hardcore. LINSAY kick much arse with their patented German emotional new-schoolish hardcore and seem capable of flooring just about all comers with their furious riffsmithery. The 2 tracks offering pounding riffage, furious screamed vocals and some well-chosen samples that really help to build the tension. ENFOLD on the other hand, are something like the bastard child of BOTCH and the SWING KIDS. They're offering a touch of welcome variation after LINSAY's straightahead pummel. They kick and scream something chronic, all angry vocals and spastic riffs, jumping jerkily from pillar to post and ensuring you just can't quite get a grip on what they're gonna do next. This one is highly recommended and ring the bell of next generation bands. [PK 026]
