HARDCORE/PUNK. Between 1983 and 1985, New York City photographer Drew Carolan began photographing patrons of the now-infamous hardcore matinees that were going on at seminal underground music club CBGB. The result is a collection of photographs capturing the beauty, vulnerability, and the unbridled energy of youth during the height of the Reagan years. While the hardcore-punk scene still thrives today, these photographs capture a time and place in history that no longer exists. This is a collection of Carolan's photos in a beautiful 10" x 10", hardcover volume featuring nearly 150 pages of images.

HARDCORE. The world of hardcore is renowned for the preservation of its own history. The history has been well-documented in records that have all been reissued, websites devoted to its preservation, an oral history that has been passed down through generations of show-goers, and now, through books that explore even the most minute and obscure details of underground hardcore culture. This book documents an incredibly important aspect of hardcore's culture that has, until now, not been documented in any print format: hardcore band t-shirts through the diligent collecting and cataloging of hardcore enthusiast Orhun Öner. The 200 pages of "life. love. shirts.: a collection of hardcore clothing" features the colorful t-shirts that were bought and sold in the sweaty clubs of the '80s and '90s, many of which are extremely rare and fetch astronomical sums on the collector's market. Many of the shirt photos are accompanied by stories from the bands, labels, and those who had a hand in the production and distribution, a glimpse of the rich tradition of hardcore band t-shirt production that continues on to this day.

PUNK-ROCK. Arriving in 1978, hitched to the back of the SEX PISTOLS tour bus, punk soon became as mythic in Texas as the state's devotion to football, cattle, and prayer. Confrontational renegades like THE HUNS, BIG BOYS, and the DICKS led a defiant new era of blood, sweat, and cross-dressing cowboys. Austin son Pat Blashill grabbed a camera and began shooting local bands, uncovering a story of desperation and creative deliverance, set in trailer parks, low-rent shared living, and wild Texas, bucket-of-beer bars. Joining Blashill's more than 200 deep, black and white photos here are essays by director Richard Linklater (SLACKER/SCHOOL OF ROCK), David Yow (THE JESUS LIZARD), Teresa Taylor (BUTTHOLE SURFERS), and local luminaries Adriane Shown and Donna Rich. 1,5kg of punk-rock.
