POP/POST-PUNK. Oakland band RAYS return with their 2nd album, "you can get there from here". This new album represents a turning point for the band, angling their scrappy, post-punk fury into a more refined and melodic pop sensibility, drawing inspiration from UK pop and punk like DOLLY MIXTURE, CLEANERS FROM VENUS and TELEVISION PERSONALITIES. This is urgent, chiming guitar pop that clangs with a sonorous melancholy & a ramshackle grace. The new album finds the core group augmented by new member, whose synth flourishes add melodic embellishments, sonic heft or psychedelic swirl where needed.
