POST-ROCK. HARVESTMAN is the brainchild of NEUROSIS vocalist/guitarist Steve Von Till, who considers "in a dark tongue" a venture into an imagined past. The album is inspired by HAWKWIND, TANGERIME DREAM, SKULLFLOWER, and LOOP, among others. It is a massive meeting point of styles and influences, all of which boil down to a surreal and inspired sound. From one sonic mindfuck to the next, "in a dark tongue" is requisite heady metal: a seamless rearrangement of psychedlic, drone and noise into a brand-new form that never gives up its pagan infatuation with rhythm.

GRINDCORE. HATRED SURGE has been around for a while but only release a proper LP. Psst, this is the 2nd full-length. During the session the band itself described this recording as "a rhino on pcp". The back-to-basics 3 piece HATRED SURGE sees a much more apparent death-metal influence and manages to retain the grinding violence stylings they are known (and loved) for. Make no mistake, "human overdose" is a menacing, feel-bad kinda trip to say the least. Why say more?

HARDCORE/METAL. HAUST present "bodies" - their 4th offering as a renewed and reworked band, expanding their black-metal/punk hybrid with elements of psychedelia, hypnotic noise-rock and a ghostly sense of melody. While "bodies" is still has a huge part of of HAUST's trademark raw rudimentary rage, it is also their most complex work to date, fusing nihilism and ambition to show that punk can be more than pure aggression. "bodies" is about breaking boundaries and destroying everything that stands in its way. It is also about sticking together and melting into a collective body. Vinyl includes CD version.

HARDCORE/METAL. Three years after their previous album, HAUST are back with their most raw and primitive release to date: In 9 short tracks the listener is pulled back into a time where rock 'n' roll and punk were synonymous with rawness and vulnerability. After 2 records and splits with OKKULTOKRATI and NEXT LIFE, HAUST were on the verge of decay and dissolve. Full of new ideas and drive, "no" was created in 2 short weeks full of arguing, distrust and rehearsal. Pure and hateful - raw rudimentary rage. Vinyl includes CD version.

2005 and the first half of 2006 saw THE HEADLIGHTS playing over 200 shows in support of their debut EP for Polyvinyl, with the band taking a brief respite only to record this full length before heading back out to support this album in the latter half of 2006. "Kill them with kindness" is a pop masterpiece, alive with a pulse that resonates through the keyboards and guitars and seems to tell a story through both male and female vocals. THE HEADLIGHTS appeal will easily reach to fans of old Promise Ring, Rainer Maria and The Postal Service.

INDIE/POP. With "Some racing, some stopping", the Champaign, Illinois trio HEADLIGHTS steps away from the indie-rock of its previous 2 efforts and jumps headlong into…indie pop territory. Based around acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, drums and other instrumentation, this record combines the pop sensibilities of previous efforts with a more restrained approach to songcraft that results in a clearer, concise musical vision. "Some racing, some stopping" has the ability to lull you into a dream-like trance, but still keep you tapping your foot all the while. How many records can you say that about?
