HARDCORE. "bitter clarity, uncommon grace", much like VERSE's previous efforts, is musically dynamic and lyrically poignant, focusing on a storyline that is completely human. After announcing just about 2 years ago that VERSE would disband, the members regrouped in late 2011 and made the decision to give it another go.

HARDCORE. From the depths of an angry, lost generation's heart and soul comes the VERSE album entitled "from anger and rage". Serving as a follow up to the band's "rebuild", the 2nd album is a manifestation of the band's growth, reflection, and their struggle to speak out against a world that is suffocating, silencing, and invalidating an entire mass of resistant voices. The song writing is more cohesive than ever, hitting harder, heavier, and with much more focus. The vocals are angrier, more personal, more desperate than those of the past, venomously lashing out at the status quo, pleading with the silenced and the fearful to rise and embrace the strength in our numbers. For those still burning inside, take heart: from anger and rage comes rebellion.

The band continuing to bridge slightly new flourishes into their exceptionally tried-and-trusted attack. With equal parts morose and triumphant d-beat fury, "sirens" features the expected white-knuckled surges of angst as well as some more expansive elements throughout the album, all enshrouded in a barbed-wire vocal delivery, packed with unstoppable gang-chants and inescapable hooks. This is Scandi hardcore that puts a modern spin on the classics like DISCHARGE and TOTALITÄR. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.

HARDCORE. Originally conceived and executed as a one-man project by Tom Pimlott on the banks of the Mersey River in Liverpool, England, VIOLENT REACTION recorded a demo in 2011, an 7" in 2012 and an LP for Painkiller Records in 2013. Soon after, Tom relocated to Leeds to assemble a full band with an end result that finds the lads playing straight-edge, hardcore with an obvious oi-punk influence. POST/EMO-PUNK. VIOLENT SOHO, a four-piece from Brisbane, Australia, has been at it since 2004. Following 2010's self-titled album, which featured the energetic highs that made MUDHONEY and NIRVANA so exhilarating. "hungry ghost" is an unapologetic, post-grunge cacophony. The result is an album chock full of fuzzy, tumbling riffs: the throat-tearing "yeahyeahyeahyeah", the grungy rock 'n' roll power and splitting anger. "hungry ghost" - it's intelligent, melodic and dripping with attitude.

HARDCORE. Eight tracks of brain throbbing annoyance that will draw the line in the sand between the real deal hardcore youth and all the other ironic moshers, noise losers, and various other butter users. Do you know THE BRAINBOMBS, THE FUCKINn' FLYIN' A-HEADS, THE SICKNESS or KILSLUG? Then you already know VIOLENT STUDENTS. Best band from Philly since CIRCLE OF SHIT.

HARDCORE. Rampaging fast hardcore in the style of LIF'S HALT, DEMON SYSTEM 13, TEAR IT UP. The blazing speed and power are broken here and there by charged up heavy riffs that show guitarist Marcs longstanding inspiration from '70s hard-rock. While there are a lot of bands mixing '70s rock and hardcore right now VITAMIN X does so in a fashion that doesn't tone down or slow down their high energy hardcore attack. The burly rock riffs merely add to the tension and power of the thrash onslaught to come.

HARDCORE. After two 7"s on Commitment, one 7" on Havoc and a full-length on Underestimated, Amsterdam's VITAMIN X busted out with their fastest hardest material. "down the drain" is the 2nd full-length by this hyperactive Dutch hardcore band. They've moved from youth-crew style to a more fast hardcore sound similar to DEMON SYSTEM 13 or LIFE'S HALT. Great political lyrics and high energy hardcore.

The 10-track bruiser and follow-up to 2008's blazing "respect and hate" long player was tracked at Sonic Band Studio in Tokyo and boasts 23min. of deliciously manic hardcore doused in boisterous singalongs, melody and wackiness for fans of THE STALIN and traditional Japcore. PROGRESSIVE-METAL. Early recording from legendary Canadian metal innovators. "to the death 84" is 70min. of loud, blistering progressive-metal. Recorded live in the band's jam space in January 1984 with an old tape recorder and a couple of microphones, it nonetheless sounds great and hits as hard today as it did back then. The track listing includes songs from "war and pain", their debut album, and 6 others, including a MERCYFUL FATE cover and 2 VENOM covers. This recording did its job: soon the underground world was aware of this strange vampire warlord from the cold-VOIVOD.
