SINGER/SONGWRITER. "out of the garden" is a mission statement that underscores the "power" in power-pop and is punctuated by lyrics as razor-sharp as the hooks. Written over a 2-year period during a break from touring, the album's emphasis on redefining feminine expectations was shaped by primary songwriter Jess Abbott's experiences living in Minneapolis and working at a liquor store in a rough part of town. Abbott's fearlessness to discuss personal topics is referenced in the album's title. Thick, 180gr, colored vinyl includes a digital download card.

MELODIC-HARDCORE. A band built out of the legacy of their varied past bands like STATEMENT, IMPEL, SUNSHINE, KILL HOLIDAY, MEAN SEASON, JULIA, GEHENNA, LOCUST, UNBROKEN, HEROIN, NARROWS and a million more. All out there together to make up their 1st effort as TAP AND DIE, "bombs overhead". This is a culmination of sounds, textures, rhythms, anger, architects; the 4 working through each other to bring out a conscious sound. TAP AND DIE is a melodic-minded affair that combines the punchy hardcore of SWIZ, DAG NASTY with the hooks of a band like SEAWEED.

POST-ROCK. This is the 5th solo release by RODAN and JUNE OF 44 alum O'Neill, whose music straddles the line between alternative-folk singer/songwriter and foreboding drone quite well. "a ways away" is intimate in sound yet distant emotionally. Most of the songs are feature just O'Neill on acoustic guitar, with some occasional atmospherics, but in the end they feel cold, as if somehow abstract. Maybe it is just the fact that we are wired to expect intimacy from a singer accompanying herself on guitar.

HARDCORE-PUNK. TARANTULA features a number of former CÜLO members among their ranks and pretty much pick up right where CÜLO left off. Everything about this band is pretty much perfect. This european pressing features 6 tracks total.

HARDCORE-PUNK. "the very best of sex and violence" is the 3rd installment from Chicago’s TARANTÜLA with 5 glorious hardcore-punk tracks. For those unfamiliar, TARANTÜLA is the reincarnation of CÜLO and they play an intoxicating blend of classic punk and meat and potato hardcore. You can hear the influences quite clearly - the snotty, aggressive punk of bands like the ANGRY SAMOANS and ZERO BOYS, the earnest drive of early '80s midwest hardcore like ARTICLES OF FAITH and early HÜSKER DÜ, and a dash of DEVO irreverence - but they’re swirled together in a way that’s just different enough from anything you’ve heard before.

HARDCORE-PUNK. "weird tales of radiation and hate" is the 2nd 7" from Chicago’s TARANTULA. The band features former members of CULO with the additional layer of the always popular bass player. Musically, TARANTULA is just as catchy as CULO, a little less mid tempo, with a more obvious classic punk influence.

SLUDGE-METAL/HARDCORE. "innen aussen" is the debut album by crushing fresh sludge monsters TARASQUE. Hailing from Münster, the power trio create heavy, sludge infused post-metal with an emphasis on being as loud as possible. The 5 tracks here are centred around enourmous, spine-crackingly heavy riffs, broken up with gentle dynamic builds and grooving, almost stoner-rock tinged sections. "innen aussen" clips along at quite a pace in general for a sludge release, and many of the tracks here are certainly neck-snappers that will sit excedingly well with fans of groove and headbanging. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.

HARDCORE-PUNK. The TARGET OF DEMAND and STAND TO FALL split LP originally was released in the year 1988 on X-Port from Norway. TARGET OF DEMAND as well as STAND TO FALL are one of the best mid/later '80s bands coming from Europe. TARGET OF DEMAND from Linz were formed in the year 1985 and were in existence till 1990. They are more on the melodic side on this split release, still powerful and sometimes faster, but full of nice melodies and strong (personal) lyrics. STAND TO FALL also from Linz were active from 1987 – 1994. STAND TO FALL played an interesting mix of fast, aggressive hardcore with pissed off vocals and slower, melodic punk parts. All 6 songs are full of variety and totally energetic.

STONER-METAL/ROCK. The debut of San Francisco female fronted stoner-rock upstarts TARRAKIAN mixes haunting ambience with shrill rocking melody and sharp rhythm and focus. Adding elements of metal, crust, doom, and avant-garde acts to create a sound that is discernable and adventurous. Although this is their first output the musicianship and recording quality is fine-tuned giving them a confident layered sound. Amazing artwork by Andrei Bozikov who has worked with the likes of Municipal Waste and Phobia. 3 tacks with a runtime of nearly 20 min.. Limited to 500 copies only!

POST-PUNK. From Vancouver, Canada comes the debut 7" from TAXA. Brooding and bass-heavy punk in the vein of UNWOUND, SHOTMAKER, and MISSION OF BURMA. Members play in DAMAGES. At times chaotic, other times strangely melodic with alternating male/female vocals. But always energetic. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

HARDCORE. After a debut 7" on the highly revered Hospital Productions, TAYLOR BOW have emerged from the darkest recesses of New York City with this decrepit, relentless wrecking ball of feedback and filth. Spanning 15 songs with perfect 4 track production and running over 30min. in length, this record perfectly captures the omniscient fear and the oppressive magnitude of existing in municipal oblivion. First press of 600 copies sheathed in extra heavy old style tip-on covers.

HARDCORE-PUNK.

HARDCORE. TEAR IT UP's 1st and only proper full-length album is seeing the light of day again after a 10 year hiatus. Originally released on Dead Alive Records in the glory days of 2001, "nothing to nothing" set the benchmark for early '00s hardcore. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

HARDCORE. TEAR IT UP were from New Jersey and take their name from a JERRY'S KID'S song. If that gives you one clue here's another, several of these guys were in DEAD NATION. Fast high-energy hardcore. Part of the revival of back to basics hardcore that is swept the nation in the Y2K era. TEAR IT UP takes on scene sell outs, rapists and society in their lyrics. All the while reflecting the alienation of the outsider in the lonely crowd.
