HARDCORE. TOETAG formed in 2008 by Eulogy owner and former member of UNTIL THE END and MORNING AGAIN, John Wylie. They've made claim to an image and ideology that has pushed them through the pack of three-chord open riff mosh metalcore bands and placed them in a prestigious place amongst the last of a dying breed of real hardcore bands that have survived the streets. As time moves on, SHATTERED REALM finds themselves writing their most mature material to date, allowing their metallic influences to show as well as adding deep, introspective, aggressive lyrics into the mix.

FOLK/POST-ROCK. In an era in which minimalism and lower-than-low-tech have come in vogue - SHEARWATER's recordings-the epic "animal joy" in a fashion like none of their contemporaries. Jonathan Meiburg has opted to ditch an approach that paid huge artistic dividends over his last Matador albums for a record that seems shockingly direct, immediate and intensely personal. He's no stranger to lush, crafted recordings, but this one sounds like no prior SHEARWATER incarnation. And please, don't mistake that for a suggestion this is anyone's notion of a traditional, singer/songwriter album. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

FOLK/POST-ROCK. SHEARWATER’s Jonathan Meiburg has a tendency to write albums with a clear thematic vision, and that same artistic instinct guides this eclectic collection of covers. As a graceful and contemplative songwriter, Meiburg tends to approach humanity from the perspective of the natural world. Here, as a curator and interpreter, Meiburg presents a carefully selected set of cover songs to reflect on his life as a traveling musician, the yin-yang between long, isolated drives and the immediacy of performing in front of hundreds of people. But more than an album about the touring life, it’s about Meiburg’s kindred souls, his fellow travelers. This new 10 song collection, "fellow travelers, finds SHEARWATER covering XIU XIU, COLDPLAY, CLINIC, ST. VINCENT, FOLK IMPLOSION, and others. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

This is definitely SHEARWATER's biggest and loudest record-it's easy to imagine these songs roaring from the stage-but it's also their most detailed and intricate one. The racing synths and hammered dulcimers of heart-pounding opener "prime" or the addled motorik of "radio silence" sound more like a metaphor for our own bewildering moment. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

POP/GARAGE-PUNK. SHEER MAG returns with their sophomore album, "a distant call". They're still writing about surviving our current hellscape, but this time around the politics get extra personal. The album verges on being a concept piece, and the protagonist resembles frontwoman Tina Halladay herself.

POP/GARAGE-PUNK. Both brazen and discrete, loud yet precise, familiar but never quite like this - SHEER MAG crept up from Philadelphia cloaked in bold insignia to channel our social and political moment with grit and groove. With 3 powerful 7"s under their belts SHEER MAG finally presents its debut album - a riff-fest that reaches into the pot of bands like THIN LIZZY and AC/DC without forgetting that they are rooted in the punk scene. Christina Halladay shows that she can sing with the best of 'em while the guitar leads take us all to the golden age of rock 'n' roll. On "need to feel your love", they make their 1st full-length declaration of light seen just beyond our darkness. Spoken plainly, without shame. It is love. This - is SHEER MAG.

POST/NOISE-ROCK. Steve Albini's SHELLAC is one of the most intense, powerful, bitter, darkest, meanest, rock acts ever with a sound so harsh you feel like your listening to a party band in a post-nuclear winter. Their 1st full-length album, "at action park" is also their best, most accessible album. From mathrock instrumental to almost whimsical, blugeoning and all out kick-ass rock SHELLAC actually creates a vast and far reaching song list. And despite all the bands spitting, snarling and sneering, it's noisey claxon-like guitar squall, it's pounding rythmic aural assault, "at action park" ironically turns out to be one of the most catchiest, killer records of all time.
