PUNK-ROCK. RANCID's 2nd full-length, released in 1994, is disarmingly good from start to finish. With roots set firmly in their Berkeley punk-rock origins, on "let's go" RANCID set out with heart, soul and vehemence to reach new heights in their music. All the of the songs bristle with the unmatched signature of Tim Armstrong's intensely evocative writing style. Colored double 10" comes with a gatefold-cover.

PUNK-ROCK. A year long project that took the band from San Francisco to Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans and Jamaica, "life won't wait" has highlights that are as varied as they are rewarding. Of the 2 songs actually recorded in Jamaica, is a poignant addict's lament with sweet soulful vocal assists from Hepcat, while the title track features Tim and Lars sparring with dancehall kingpin Buju Banton against a canvas of urgent old school ska. Self-produced, culled from life experience, and played live in large measure, "life won't wait" is as ambitious and independent as it gets.

PUNK-ROCK. Without any reminiscing about their former band OPERATION IVY, Matt Freeman (bass) and Tim Armstrong (guitar/vocals) blast through their debut without any hints of ska or blatant CLASH plagiarizing. On the contrary, this album rips through 15 tracks of high-energy punk that's accompanied by heavy bass leads and Armstrong's permanently slurred vocals. And to top it all off, the lyrical content deals with urban blight and the lifestyle of being a public nuisance.

PUNK-ROCK. From its ominous, xeroxed album cover, to the barely legible lyric sheet to the sheer chaos invoked by the music, RANCID 2000 (as the 2nd self-titled album) is paint-peeling punk-rock of the highest order. Produced by long-time friend and producer Brett Gurewitz, most of the 22 songs clock in at well under 2min., and there are absolutely no ballads. Guitars are driven to within inches of meltdown, the bass burns with the signature maniacal virtuosity of Matt Freeman, and the vocals are delivered with raging conviction. RANCID's hardest, fastest record to date!

PUNK-ROCK. Born in the midst of the post-Reagan economic downturn in the San Francisco, the East-Bay region specifically, RANCID came to light as Armstrong and Freeman were moving forward after the first band they founded, OPERATION IVY, reached a friendly demise. Over the past 2 decades, RANCID has shown awareness of their changing environment and has established their place in it, all while never losing sight of themselves as individuals or as a band. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

PUNK-ROCK. This 3rd volume of the BYO split Series features 2 of the most infamous punk bands in the world, RANCID and NOFX. The twist on this one is that each band has gone into the studio to record six of the other bands songs. Neither one revealed which songs they were going to do, so the mystery became even more of a reason to get more bold on song selelctions, and the outcome is amazing. The contrasting styles of both bands make the songs that much more interesting, and the self produced efforts bring forth all the energy and fury that punk-rock is built on.

POST-PUNK. RANK/XEROX from San Francisco finally return with 4 songs of messy post-punk with hidden pop james and dark guitar scratchers and synth screamers. Distorting messy and catchy at the same time. Colored (silver) vinyl is limited to 100 copies only.

POST-PUNK. The album follows a 7" and a split tape. The sound is one of post-punk tension, messy but vaguely pop in a fractured fashion, guitar scratchers and synth screamers. The 10 track record inhabits darker, danker spaces than previously, damaged dirges seep out from a confused consciousness, and are stared down by obtuse ragers and disorienting excursions into the synth zone. RANK/XEROX have a visceral-yet-moody texture reminiscent of FEEDERZ, some RUDIMENTARY PENI attitude.

HARDCORE. RAPID LOSS hailing from Canada. These punks started their band in snowy terrains of Alberta. With one previous 7" release under their belts RAPID LOSS laid out this hardcore-punk record and raised the bar! With influences from BGK to SIEGE these guys bring this ripping album to life. The guitars rip so hard and it's like a gift that won't stop giving...hardcore track after hardcore track. Make sure you keep an eye out for them.

POST-PUNK. RAPIDER THAN HORSEPOWER are members of RACENANNON and REP SEKI and come from Bloomington, Indiana. They are playing some geeky avangarde post-punk influenced by bands like CAPTAIN BEEFHEART, PAVEMENT or LES SAVY FAV, but do not sound like any of these bands at all. THE MAE SHI are from Los Angeles and play surprise music and are just influenced by homemade mixtapes and mainstream hip-hop as they are by fat day or the ex. None of this X meets Y shit is gonna work though, because THE MAE SHI is a band that you will listen to more than talk about.

HARDCORE: "i glorify" is the debut 7" from Leeds, UK-based hardcore unit RAPTURE. Taking a big leap from their well-received demo from last year, RAPTURE has further developed their signature sound blending FLOORPUNCH and early TURNING POINT with a hint of early YOUTH OF TODAY, brimming with a powerful rhythm section and catchy guitar hooks. The fast-paced lyrics focus on the social pressures of everyday life, the power of words that seem to be so freely dispensed in today's society, online or otherwise, and the costly effect that they can have.

POP-PUNK. RARITY is one of the most exciting new bands to come from Canada's underground pop-punk scene. After years of touring under their own steam, RARITY finally caught the attention of Rise Records who admired the band's strong work ethic and their ability to write infectious songs. RARITY craft their debut album, "i couldn't be weaker" - the result is 10 songs of melodic pop-punk with catchy hooks, blended with the angst and aggression that the genre has grown to miss. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.

NOISE-HARDCORE. Chicago’s Rash follow up their "skinner box" album with this 3 song ripper. Pure heavy blown up punk stomping with absolute writhing filth anger on vocals. Bleak beatings.
