HARDCORE. Formed out of Boston in 1989, ONLY LIVING WITNESS is one of the '90s criminally underrated bands. ONLY LIVING WITNESS married burly riffs and emotional, melodic vocals long before anyone thought it was a good idea. It's been 25 years since "prone mortal form" was 1st released in 1993, but it's influence can still be heard today with bands like TURNSTILE blowing up in the hardcore scene. "prone mortal form" is being released on vinyl as it's own LP for the very 1st time and includes liner notes from Jonah Jenkins and Craig Silverman. Colored vinyl is limited to 1000 copies. * BLACK FRIDAY 2018 *

HARDCORE. Raw and scrappy bare-bones US hardcore done just right on this debut 7" from OOZE. Has a very similar feel to what SCHOOL JERKS or AMDI PETERSEN'S ARME were doing, right down to the raw analog recording. The b-side of this record has a much wilder guitar sound, leaning somewhere towards Pat Smear-meets-Greg Ginn while the rhythm section crunches right along. An unexpectedly great record from where else? The midwest.

MELODIC/POST-HARDCORE. The term supergroup is thrown around way to carelessly these days. But with even a bit of experience in the underground-scene, one absolutely has to classify OPEN CITY as a true all-star-unit. Formed by Dan (LIFETIME, KID DYNAMITE, PAINT IT BLACK), Andy (CEREMONY, PAINT IT BLACK, DARK BLUE), Rachel of BRIDGE & TUNNEL and Chris of TED LEO AND THE PHARMACISTS, OPEN CITY has a sound that moves seamlessly between styles. At one moment with the meloduc fury of LIFETIME or KID DYNAMITE and the next moving into more angular, mid-tempo realms of Ebullition Records' sound, '90s emo and bands like TORCHES TO ROME and BAADER BRAINS. Political, pissed off and socio-critical, but at the same time with the right amount of melody. Limited white vinyl.

HARDCORE-PUNK. Sad to say but this is their farewell record after an excellent LP and a succesful tour. 8 songs of angry, pissed off political hardcore with female/male vocals. Even a bit faster and more tight than their already excellent LP. Lyrix are kind of indepth analysis of punk politics that remind a lot of CONFLICT and the likes. Very inspiring stuff - comes with LP size booklet with translations and comments.

HARDCORE-PUNK. The sleeve looks like a total peace punk clichŽ - but there are no complaints. The music is roughly described as a perfect mix of CONFLICT and MOB 47 - in one word excellent! Female/male vocalists screaming out their anger about every day suppression. The topics of the lyrics are not new at all, but who cares, because there's still an oppressive system, animal suffering, sexism and racism out there. Comes with booklet & lyrics translated in english.

PROGRESSIVE-METAL/ROCK. As hard to believe as it appears there are still exceptions to the rule out there. For the past 15 years OPETH have managed to tread their very own path through a scene full of wannabes and traditionalists without ever heeding metal laws or fashion trends. Death-metal was trasnformed into a melting pot in the hands of OPETH who added goth, '70s prog-rock, folk and even elements of jazz with great skill transcending each genre in turn. "ghost reveries" is positively brimming with grand emotions, brutal riffs, spherical guitars, acoustic breaks, epic keyboards, rocking organs, enchanting solos und vocals reaching from downright evil to heart-breakingly beautiful. You can detect MORBID ANGEL just as well as PINK FLOYD, KING CRIMSON and NICK DRAKE. Let "ghost reveries" be your personal expedition. Metal by and for visionaries.

DOOM/DEATH-METAL. There are some bands that inhale doom and exhale doooom, automatically separating themselves from the womb of mediocre or good/very good releases. OPHIS from Hamburg, Germany has to be one of them. There are plenty of highlights across this album, including the epic wall of sound that is created by the guitars or the re-introduction of Kruppa's bellowed vocals and strained screams, the latter of which make the occasional appearance throughout the album. "withered shades" is an ideal propagator of this particular death/doom style, one which is gaining more and more popularity. Limited double vinyl comes with gatefold-cover and poster.

DOOM/SLUDGE-METAL. "taste my sword of understanding" is the 3rd offering of OPIUM WARLORDS, the final project of Sami Albert Hynninen (REVEREND BIZARRE, THE PURITAN, SPIRITUS MORTIS etc.). In comparison to the earlier albums it takes a few steps towards more conventional and easy-to-listen-to levels. Recorded in 2010, mixed in 2013 – ripened, literally, with blood, tears, sweat, and exotic neurochemical fluids "taste my sword of understanding" is at the same time minimal and complicated, light and heavy; sometimes gentle and soothing, sometimes raw and cruel, but always real and naked, and this time you may find – among all the repetition, weird noises, and floating on the drone and ultra-light chimes – even some essence of epic metal on board.

PUNK-HARDCORE. OPPOSITION RISING appeals to fans of the different subgenres of hardcore and punk with their mix of musical influences and energetic live shows. With extremely catchy anthems that will make a fan of any street-punk, enough breakdowns for the hardcore kids, and enough brutality for the crust scene, mixed with some intelligent yet realistic lyrics and a strong d.i.y. ethic. OPPOSITION RISING is an anomaly in a sea of division and repetitive sounding bands.

10"col 12.50€*

POST-PUNK. OPTIONAL BODY is made up of YEAR FUTURE, THE VSS, ANGEL HAIR, SOME GIRLS, CAMERA OBSCURA etc. members. This "same titled" 7" feature 2 songs of dark, brooding punk that brings BAUHAUS and early CHRISTIAN DEATH to mind just as much as it does all of the member's former bands. Pressed in an edition of 300 copies which includes a digital download card.

7"col 6.00€*

POST-HARDCORE. ORANG ORANG, consisting of members of the best bands that Göttingen/Bielefeld/Kassel have to offer. They play a noisy weird and chaotic interpretation of hardcore in the vein of early CEREMONY or TRASH TALK. What seperates them from the mentioned is the incredible voice of the singer, that's bursting of coolness and adds a good portion of manic pop to the music. Colored one-sided vinyl comes with a screen-printed cover.
