INDIE/EMO-ROCK. INTO IT. OVER IT. / OWEN are the respective solo projects of prominent Chicago-based songwriters Mike Kinsella and Evan Weiss - 2 musicians who are equally at ease performing on their own as they are sharing the stage in bands such as CAP 'N JAZZ, AMERICAN FOOTBALLl and OWLS, and THE PROGRESS, STAY AHEAD OF THE WEATHER and PET SYMMETRY. For this collaboration Kinsella and Weiss each recorded a brand new track in addition to a cover of a favorite song from the other artist's extensive catalog. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.

ART-ROCK. INUS (aka The Institute for Navigating the Universal Self) is a pre-postapocalyptic, post-honky-tonk-prog-skronk, space tropicalia, math-lounge power-silence trio from San Diego, featuring members of LOCUST, HOLY MOLAR, PHANTOM TWINS etc.. The title of the album itself is a play on words referring to the movie genre spaghetti western, which were westerns filmed in Italy, and the actual physics term "spaghettification", which is what happens if you cross the event horizon of a black hole. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.

HARDCORE. Originally released as a tour-edition and sold immediately during their USA tour INVASION's new album is finally out. 6 sick tracks of claustrophobic hardcore that updates the traditional UK anarcho sound, and the experimental Japanese hardcore of the early '80s. This item is dirty and un-easy. The raw production makes the crazy vocals full of echo and delay the main focus but they are backed up by a steamroller of overdrive driven noise guitar and manic drumming with tons of feedback joining the tracks together, managing to get you on edge for the entire duration of the record wondering what's gonna happen when it is over. This release is more proof that even a limited style like hardcore can provide head scratching bands in this day and age.

PUNK-ROCK. After a couple great records as the LOST PATROL BAND the band decided 2 years ago to change both language and direction. Choosing the name INVASIONEN and going for a sound more grounded in swedish music tradition. With influences from the late '70s Swedish punk scene mixed with early new wave sounds and good old fashioned rock 'n' roll they've created a sound that is both old-school, familiar and new. "hela världen brinner" is 13 songs about growing up and dealing with the rules that both we ourselves and the world around us has set. Both more political and personal before the lyrics have a nerve that is most unique.

POST-ROCK. INVENTIONS is the new band formed by longtime friends, tourmates, and labelmates Matthew Cooper of ELUVIUM, and Mark T. Smith of EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY. INVENTIONS exceeds all expectations by discarding them from the get-go. They have created their own tiny, wondrous corner of the world, one with ever-changing sounds and colors. Across 8 songs the duo explore the delicate and disturbing - and virtually everything in-between - with majestic abandon. It's the kind of beauty and brilliance that only masters of their craft can accomplish when all egos and expectations are cast aside in pursuit of the splendor of sound. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

POWER-VIOLENCE-HARDCORE. INVERTEBRATE bring 6 tracks of that meat on the bone Oakland power-violence-hardcore. The "culture rot" 7" is sonic viciousness, doing big fat ollies over trash cans filled with empty beer cans filled with backwash and floating cigarette butts. From thrash blasts to sludge crawl, it annihilates the whole way through.

"Tales" not only whomps all over the three-piece's past material, but it also stands out as a highlight of this year's releases. That's mostly due to “Dimensional orbiter,” the 22+ minute monolithic guitar-based freakout that spews intergalactic stoner-psychedelia all over the place, much like Linda Blair did with pea soup in The Exorcist. And rather than being subjected to a crucifix in the vagina, “Dimensional orbiter” instead gives you a solid boot to the ass. Repeatedly. It's a stand-up and take notice song, a note-perfect example of what this genre can represent when its not farting around trying to figure out what SABBATH and KYUSS riffs to steal. As for the other four tracks on "Tales", they're pretty damn good too.

POST/PROGRESSIVE-ROCK. Birmingham based shoegaze, metal outfit IROHA are back with the follow up to their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album."shepherds & angels" is another heavy slab of densely melancholic and yet extremely uplifting songwriting combining elements of shoe-gaze, metal and electronica. From the opening, monolithic riff, through the swirling atmospherics "shepherds & angels" is equally as heavy as lead and as fragile as glass. Andy Swan (FINAL), Diarmuid Dalton (GODFLESH etc.) and Dominic Crane (THE BOATY MAN, RUMBLE FISH) are having a great feeling for melodies and know how to combine them with powerful sound elements to create a fuzzy warm mood. Thick 180gr vinyl comes with deluxe gatefold-sleeves and includes a digital download card.

POST/PROGRESSIVE-ROCK. After a collaboration record with FRAGMENT from France and the debut full-length, "the end of an era" constitutes the 3rd release of IROHA - the new project consisting of Andy Swan (FINAL), Diarmuid Dalton (GODFLESH, JESU) and Dominic Crane (THE BOATY MAN, RUMBLE FISH). The 4 tracks (with a total playing time of 25 min.) express their love to shoegaze just as much as their interest in the sound of new-wave acts like NEW ORDER - all this mixed with a metal orientated sound basis and little ambient influences. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

THRASH-HARDCORE/METAL. Austin's IRON AGE have been slugging it out in hardcore and punk circles since the middle of the decade. With "the sleeping eye", IRON AGE remains a modern torchbearer for the long tradition established by the crossover classics CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's "animosity," CRUMBSUCKERS' "life of dreams", CRO-MAGS' "best wishes", but twists the NYC hardcore inspired thrash of their debut to create something bigger and darker, enhancing the violence of their former efforts with mammoth Lovecraftian atmopshere. "the sleeping eye" is a sprawling modern heavy-metal opus that doesn't forsake its hardcore roots, forging a sound that honors the crossover forefathers while treading new ground in brutal atmosphere and doomy ambiance.

SINGER/SONGWRITER. IRON AND WINE's "archive series volume 1" is the 1st in a series - Sam Beam will be gathering otherwise unreleased home recordings, covers, live sets, and curiosities from his entire career as IRON AND WINE and releasing them on his own label. This 1st release taps into a set of songs created before Sam was IRON AND WINE, when he was making music without the public in mind. The songs on "vol.1" came to life at the same time as those selected for IRON AND WINE's debut, "the creek drank the cradle". Some of this material has been widely bootlegged, but has never received a wide-spread or proper release. "vol.1" collects 16 of these unreleased early home recordings for the 1st time. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
