HARDCORE-PUNK. "plastic surgery disasters", The DEAD KENNEDYS' 2nd full-length (released in 1982), is probably their best album ever. An absolute must-have reissue.

POST-HARDCORE. This is a split between 2 of the europeans most violent band. DEAD LIKE YOU practice the good old metalic hardore, the one that summons BOTCH, COALESCE, DEADGUY. Powerful, dissonant and uncomfortable as fuck. GERDA have decided to go further into audio violence, with only one long song, vicious and crawling, with the purpose of mistreating the listener. The feedback that greets the listener at the start of this 3 song split between French, DEAD LIKE YOU and their Italian counterparts GERDA, makes you eagerly anticipate what lurks beneath, as you can feel yourself being dragged to something that you may not like. It's a blast of pure noise, that does actually hurt your head, not in a subtle way at all, but in a sledgehammer to the face kind of way.

EMO-PUNK. The vinyl version of DEAD MECHANICAL's debut full-length is finally here. Upbeat and catchy tunes with sweet hooks back up dual vocals, one gruff and nicotine-throated and one eager and honey-coated. The band perfectly blends the sounds of bands like JAWBREAKER, SUPERCHUNK and JAWBOX to create a sound that you'll be humming endlessly. This band could easily fit on stage at Gilman or in Chapel Hill in the mid '90s.

CRUST-HARDCORE/METAL. Debut 7" from this apocalyptic crust band featuring members of WASTE MANAGEMENT, NO SIR I WON'T, AGGRESSION PACT, LIBYANS. This 2 song 7" of metallic crust with seething vocals, apocalyptic lyrical imagery, and dark eerie music, matched perfectly with its amazing Otto Greiner cover art. DEAD OF NIGHT earned numerous comparisons to British crust legends AMEBIX. Raw down-tuned guitar, melodic basslines, and thunderous drumming set the ominous, atmospheric tone, with claustrophobic production. DEAD OF NIGHT adds their own unique vision to the classic crust sound.

EMO/ALTERNATIVE-ROCK. On their 3rd full-length release, DEAD POETIC are beginning to embrace classic rock 'n' roll and '90s alternative-rock and throw that into the mix with their heavier, screamier sound they used on "new medicines". Think about SAINTS AND SIBNNERS, or about the involvement of producer Aaron Sprinkle (Pedro The Lion, Anberlin) or the DEFTONES. "vices" is anything but screamo. "Vices" owes more to STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and PEARL JAM than whichever "scene" bands have skipped the VFW Halls and gone straight to the mainstream. Sure, DEAD POETIC's breakout album "New medicines" evidenced touches of the now over-played sound. But DEAD POETIC has always evolved. "vices" reflects their strongest evolution yet.

BLACK-METAL/AMBIENT. Recorded in Poland on cheap and archaic Soviet Bloc technology, "my firstborn will surely be blind" sees DEAD RAVEN CHOIR in full throttle audio assault with total disregard for all conventions of audio fidelity. Curiously upbeat in parts, though with harrowing and bizarre artwork. This is noisier undertaking and unafraid of the heady heights of mid tempo, DEAD RAVEN CHOIR has baffled, irked and aroused listeners for a number of years now. An unholy cross of black-metal and folk. Organically produced noise and scree. Limited to 600 copies on black vinyl.
