HARDCORE. Current and ex-members of Richmond's BRACEWAR, CANDY, NAYSAYER, BREAK AWAY and others came together to form EARTH TO HEAVEN. These 4 songs are equal parts speed and crunch, with plenty of influences coming from bands like COLD WORLD and DOWN TO NOTHING.

BLACK/THRASH-METAL. "dark path" is the brazen debut from Virginia warlocks, EARTHLING. Possessing a haunting intricacy, EARTHLING has crafted an album that skilfully avoids the pitfalls of metal's current sub-genres. Harnessing a classic sound with a blazing vision, "dark path" is a relentlessly cruel record that cultivates a natural mysticism. Lurking soundscapes spiral into pure sonic madness like '80s SLAYER running wild through '90s Norway. These promising riff mongers have made a sharp first impression. A gripping listen at every turn, "dark path" is a genuine pursuit of wretchedness.

INDIE/POST-ROCK. The 2nd full-length from the Ohio indie/post-hardcore 4 piece is a diverse offering that twists and turns through punk, indie, math-rock and shoegaze to carve a record that could be categorized as something akin to post-rock. The well road-tested 8 songs are equal parts melodic and dissonant, frantic and cathartic along the lines of CURSIVE, THE LIFE & TIMES, SMALL BROWN BIKE, and BRAID. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

CRUST-HARDCORE. EASPA MEASA existed from 2001 until 2012 and definetly have been (one of influencial bands over the last number of years for the d.i.y. scene in Ireland. This will be their postmortem 7" with the last recording they did. "freeblood" features 4 songs of crusty flavored hardcore with dual male/female vocals - with great passion, reflected political lyrics and interesting liner notes.

PROGRESSIVE-METAL/HARDCORE. From the opening track you can tell "ressentiment" isn't your standard fare. Layers upon layers of prog-ish post-metal lead to full-blown stories being told in each song. The vocals and the music meld perfectly together here, with melancholy moments immediately flipping to angry walls of guitars and then to soothing melodies while clean singing co-mingles with angry growls. There's no doubt the album is an extremely challenging listen and you've to listen to it three times before being able to put your thoughts into the words. You'll get 13 songs of intense, technical instrumental metal.

POP/EMO-PUNK. "calming pink" is the debut full-length by EATEN BY SNAKES. Almost 2 years after the self-titled release, expect 10 songs filled with keyboards, guitars and drums - all just in time to be your summer soundtrack of 2020. Due to the extensive use of synths, which is never superficial, but rather creates a reverberant, subtle pressure, the band always appears dynamic and powerful. JAWBREAKER were always the distinctive reference point of the previous band, and they're still here. All 10 songs are basically classic emotional guitar rock with an almost power-pop-like excess of melodies and a little SPRINGSTEEN component. If you don't get in a good mood from this, you should really seek professional help. Colored vinyl comes housed in a fancy screenprinted gatefold-cover and includes stickers and a digital download card.
