HARDCORE. The 2nd 7" from THE CATBULGARS this year and definitely a step up from the 1st one recording wise which can be nice and not nice depending on your taste if you like clean recordings or lo-fi but rest assured the playing is still sloppy and punk. The influence of STOOGES, DEAD BOYS, RAMONES and BLACK FLAG is still here like the 1st one but they also add a slight UK influence too on this one and yes the lyrics are still as 'dumb' as ever. 5 originals and a ZEROS cover, comes with a nice booklet cover. Other bands they could be compared to are the TRANZMITORS or the BRUTAL KNIGHTS.

DOOM-METAL. Limited edition double LP on 180gr vinyl with gatefold-sleeve and LP sized booklet. As with a choice few truly great bands, the 1st self-financed cassette recording by CATHEDRAL - made in october 1990 - was a pioneering underground masterpiece in its own right; the sound of a young band exploring its newfound chemistry, finding confident variations on a flawless list of influences and cultivating a sound and style that would prove hugely inspirational throughout the 1990s and beyond. Where most demos are little more than a dry run for the 1st album, "in memoriam" still has its own distinct and important identity in the CATHEDRAL canon.

DOOM-METAL. The last Cathedral album ever! Born in the dying days of Thatcher's Britain, bonding over then-unfashionable, obscure names like ST. VITUS, PENTAGRAM, TROUBLE, CATHEDRAL's sole ambition was to record a demo tape. In fact they revolutionised doom-metal, 1st pushing their influences into new avenues of grinding extremity, then pioneering groovier forms of '70s-indebted stoner, doom. So when news came that CATHEDRAL really were approaching the Endtyme, it was a shock. This is the album CATHEDRAL been waiting to do since "forest of equilibrium", it almost feels like they made their 2nd album last in some respects. They actually recorded a lot more material but decided to sacrifice many of the tracks to make the overall album feel more complete in its nihilism. Clearly there was new impetus for reconnecting with that early spirit of doleful abjection, of sinister obsessions and lamented desires; on "the last spire" CATHEDRAL are literally doomed.

GRINDCORE/CRUST-HARDCORRE. What a perfect pairing here. Denever heavyweight grindcore veterans go up against Seattle's doom laden crust-grinders!

POST-PUNK-ROCK. CATHOLIC SPIT - A Pact With The Devil LP Southern California’s CATHOLIC SPIT is kind of like 45 GRAVE's and T.S.O.L's long forgotten baby with a healthy dose of tempo changes, female vocals and spite. Flanged guitars spit mighty menacing riffage and bouncing, gloomy bass strumming seeps through each of the 7 song. Vinyl includes a huge booklet and a digital download card.

INDIE-POP. CATS ON FIRE, return with their 3rd full-length album "all blackshirts to me". Amongst the acutely political lyrical observations from the singer Mattias, "all blackshirts to me" reveals a more adventurous approach. Ville Hopponen brings quirk and soul with his multi-instrumentalist wizardry and Mattias even dares to let a few synthesized sounds into the mix, lightening up their previously rather rigorous acoustic dogmas. "all blackshirts to me" is by far the richest sounding CATS ON FIRE album yet.

INDIE-POP. CATS ON FIRE maybe from Finland, but their modus operandi resembles that of their Swedish neighbours indie scene, in the way that country has become a virtual conveyor belt of inventively jangly, lovelorn, fundamentally exciting guitar pop. In CATS ON FIRE’s case the influence of the SMITHS, ORANGE JUICE or just your favorite pop album, where every single song is so good that it would be hard to decipher which song on the album was meant as the single. You won’t be able to find a throwaway track here, which is an oddity in this year’s music output.

GRINDCORE. The 3rd Metal Blade Records release and 4th overall from grind purveyors CATTLE DECAPITATION was originally released in 2006, and is one of the most diverse albums from the band. This has laid the framework for "karma bloody karma", the most nihilistic, pessimistic and hateful record CATTLE DECAPITATION has ever done. The album features guest appearances by Joey Karam (The Locust), John Wiese (Bastard Noise).

GRINDCORE/DEATH-METAL. Hard to believe it's been 12 years since CATTLE DECAPITATION debuted on Metal Blade Records in 2002. "to serve man" would be the release that introduced CATTLE DECAPITATION to a broader, grind audience. Regardless of the controversy, "to serve man" went on to be the band's biggest selling release, at the time, and continues to be a staple title in Metal Blade Records' vast catalog. Colored (green/pink) vinyl is limited to 300 copies.

PROGRESSIVE-HARDCORE. Hailing from Sacramento, CAULFIELD play really depressing sounding hardcore. Huge crusty parts with a dash of '90s Cleveland hardcore and a bunch of really sad/bleak instrumental breaks thrown in a blender and regurgitated onto this LP as loud as possible. Think HIS HERO IS GONE meets INTEGRITY meets NEUROSIS. LP includes MP3 download code.

HARDCORE. The CAUSTIC CHRIST hardcore steamrollers crushes all opposition. A gnarled mix of bass heavy drive of Swedish crust with the high octane thrash of American fastcore. Includes a cover of the FLIPPER classic "ha ha ha". Features members of AUS-ROTTEN, SUBMACHINE and REACT. CAUSTIC CHRIST has one of the most unique sounds in current hardcore because they mix the bass heavy drive of Swedish crust with the high octane thrash of American fastcore.

HARDCORE. CAUSTIC CHRIST on this release take a "less is more" approach by stripping away the frivolity of fashion and getting down to the brass tacks. Here are 5 tracks of pure hardcore animosity. Pittsburgh brings it...again.

HARDCORE. Pittsburgh's current kings of hardcore are back with another 10 tracks of fast, furious hardcore without any frills or pretense with just enough crust and Swedish influence.
