HARDCORE/METAL. WVRM has crawled out of South-Carolina and is pissed. The band meshes perfectly together a precise grindcore sound with a darkened hardcore edge to it. Six lightning quick blasts on the a-side and 2 angry evil longer tracks on the reverse. Sardonic, brooding, and generally misanthropic, "heartache" will make your heart actually hurt a bit after listening to it for better or for worse.

POWER-VIOLENCE HARDCORE. The debut album from a trio out of Klang Valley/Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). WWHIRR playing power-violence hardcore with groovy thumping basslines, storming drum beat and forging mad vocals. Influenced by classic Slap-A-Ham bands or NO COMMENT, LOW THREAT PROFILE and MAN IS THE BASTARD. Limited edition of 300 copies. Get it while you can!

INDIE-POP. "under the pale moon" is a gorgeously dramatic and romantic full-length; a focused departure from his work in the FRESH & ONLYS, he emerges as innovative songwriter with limitless pop potential. Miles creates a big romantic pop record. While never overtly attempting to address his influences, the listener can hear a bit of GO-BETWEENS, ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN, NICK CAVE NIKKI SUDDEN and THE CURE present in his work.

POST-PUNK. After a standout appearance on the "land of nod" compilation, ATLANTA's WYMYN'S PRYSYN have suffered from lineup changes and a longish wait between recording and album release. This record marks the band's 1st recording with Bobby from BRAIN F? and DOUBLE NEGATIVE on drums and he really brings the band to the next level. This is a perfect mix of early pounding hardcore stomp with healthy doses of outsider punk and raw pop, equal parts blown up filth and awkward catchy glee.

BLACK-METAL. It wasn't so long ago that WYQM's self-titled debut was released, and now here's its follow-up, "portrait of spectre". This one is overall is the same vein as its predecessor, but at the same time has a different vibe. Still no lyrics sheet and just numbered track names. "portrait of spectre" is another exercise in black-metal torture, mind-fuckery and overall desensitization of the soul. The vocals are still as sick, raspy and screechy. Once again fast-paced songs meet more mid to slow-paced melancholic and melodic ones. This is not for everybody, and even those familiar with such bleak black-metal need to be in the mood to really appreciate this. Limited edition of just 500 copies!

POST-PUNK-ROCK. Munster presents individual replica reissues of the 14 different 7"s released on Dangerhouse between 1977 and 1979. Dangerhouse was one of the 1st independent labels to document the burgeoning West Coast punk-rock scene of the late '70s. Although short-lived, its work provided a vital outlet for the bands and other participants and set a template for many to follow. All 7"s have facsimile sleeves and labels and come inside a clear plastic bag like the original releases.

POST-PUNK-ROCK. "los angeles" is the debut album of the American punk-rock band X, released in 1980. "los angeles" is considered by many to be one of punk's alltime finest recordings, and with good reason. Most bands used their musical inability to create their own style, but X actually consisted of some truly gifted musicians. Although they are tagged as a punk-rock act, X are not easily categorized. Besides punk and electricity, they also add country. "los angeles" offers all-time classics as the venomous "your phone's off the hook, but you're not", and one of their best anthems "nausea". Remastered vinyl includes a digital download card.

POST-PUNK-ROCK. The 3rd albums usually define a truly amazing band. Want proof? Two words: "london calling". And X’s "under the big black sun" is a record of equal importance and stature. It is a defining moment in American music that can never be equaled. Darker than its predecessors, it still rocks as hard as "los angeles" or "wild gift" - but in a grown-up way. This is one awesome slab! Thick 180gr vinyl edition.

LP 23.00€*

POST-PUNK-ROCK. Though a small handful of its 13 songs predate "los angeles", X's 2nd album represents a giant leap forward for the band. "wild gift" stands as one of the '80s most fully realized rock 'n' roll LPs. John Doe and Exene Cervenka bring altogether more personal and biting lyrics to the mic, making for riveting performances. Remastered vinyl includes a digital download card.

PUNK-ROCK. The Sydney band's 1979 debut is one of the all-time great Australian records, a devastatingly tough yet diverse album featuring 14 tracks of superb punk-rock, equal parts wiry tension and savage release. This antipodean classic has fallen out of print again in recent years but should always be available, so Ugly Pop is pleased to announce that we'll be reissuing it with new insert and unseen photos.

LP 19.00€*

POST-PUNK-ROCK. Before their legendary debut LP, X recorded a 1977 demo session that is a brilliant snapshot of the period, and a treasure for anyone with an interest in world-wide 1st wave-punk. "x-spurts" is 10 tracks - perfect raw/full recording, seething with desperation and urgency, this is the sound of early AC/DC meets "pink flag" meets early BLACK FLAG with everything cranked. 37 years on, Ugly Pop Records presents the 1st ever vinyl appearance of this seminal document.

GRINDCORE. Modern fastcore's blackest cult ascends once more from its knighted abyss to deliver 31 hymns of infernal savagery. "deprogrammed" deliver 27min. grinding music. Vinyl comes with gatefold-jacket and includes a digital download card with 40min. of bonus material.

GRINDCORE/POST-PUNK. XBRAINIAX is a familiar name for those into fast hardcore. The ideas of NO COMMENT taken to their conclusion, a nonstop whirlwind, insane complicated arrangements too fast and too furious for my brain to keep up with. This split is raw 4-track recordings, 3 short/fast/loud numbers and 1 long and slow creeper, to be filed with their upcoming LP as their best record yet. LETTUCE VULTURES join 3 tardcore anthems for fans of intelligent art music. If you’re not already familiar, well ah maybe it’s not for you. Their rendition of "walking on sunshine" is one of the best cover song of the year.

POST-HARDCORE. Maybe you've heard the term "artist's artist" - that's XBXRX. The core of the band is 2 brothers who are renowned for their impact on the SF/Oakland art/punk scene. Other musicians who have performed in XBXRX have also been part of pioneering underground bands such as THE FLYING LUTTENBACHERS, DEERHOOF. Departing from the improvised and experimental nature of their past releases , "o" is straight up aggression. Holding the same energy as a bomb explosion, they plow through 10 tracks in under 10min.. The tempo of the music goes by as fast as this limited 7" will sell-out. Vinyl includes MP3 download code.

POST-HARDCORE. XBXRX's joyous, high-energy musical outpourings have been championed by major figures in underground rock such as SONIC YOUTH, PEACHES, UNWOUND, DEERHOOF, and Q AND NOT U. They've also worked with such producers as Steve Albini, Ian McKaye, and Don Zientara. The band continues to progress and expand their musical horizons with this release, incorporating a wider palette of textures, rhythm, and structure, as well as gaining a newfound clarity in an effort to move beyond the non-stop blastbeat/screaming assault of previous releases while retaining their exhilaration that people expect from them.
