THRASH-HARDCORE/METAL. When a band forms, as RED DEATH did in late 2013, primarily out of reverence for CORROSION OF CONFORMITY - and especially when half the members hail from North Carolina - their 2nd album is bound to have a lot riding on it. Everything that made 2015's "permanent exile" and 2016's "deterrence" 7" classics has been amplified on the new album: the solos soar higher, the riffs penetrate deeper, the rhythm section pounds harder and with more precision, and the vocals are more unhinged. From their 1st practice in D.C. some years ago, RED DEATH has been heirs to the proudest of traditions in the heavy-music underground, and with "formidable darkness", they've fulfilled their immense promise - just in time for the world's ignominious end.

THRASH-HARDCORE. Debut full-length from this fast-moving band out of DC. It makes sense that 2 of these guys are from North Carolina, as RED DEATH pretty openly rep their C.O.C. influence/obsession. They don't sound like a tribute act, though... basically, this is CORROSION OF CONFORMITY "animosity" filtered through the lens of modern hardcore. So take OUT COLD, "animosity"-era C.O.C., and the precise, very tight modern hardcore sound explored by labels like Painkiller and Beach Impediment, wrap it up in some really strong and heavy production, and you have this firecracker of a record. Vinyl includes a digital download card.

THRASH-HARDCORE. In 2014, Washington, D.C.'s RED DEATH (members of ZOOM, COKE BUST, PROTESTER) came out of the gate and obliterated everyone with one of the best hardcore demos of the year. Their 1st recorded output channels the sheer brutality and precision of crossover classics like "animosity", "cause for alarm", and "best wishes", without straying too far from the rawness and reckless abandon of hardcore-punk. What you get on this 7" are 4 blistering cuts and a DISCHARGE cover; the perfect introduction to one of the most promising hardcore bands going on the East-Coast today. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
