CROSSOVER-HARDCORE. "born to expire" was a landmark release for New York hardcore, infusing elements of crossover, thrash, metal and even hip hop. It was recorded in 1987 but not released until 1989 by Rock Hotel and Profile Records and reissued briefly in 1996 on Another Planet. "desperate measures" is the 1991 follow-up to "born to expire" and featured a new bass player and drummer plus a sound that delved further into the realm of crossover and thrash metal. CROSSOVER-HARDCORE. Released in 1995, "open mouth kiss" was the final full-length from NYHC groove masters LEEWAY. Groovy, fast, hard and again the vocal patterns and melodies were beyond the normal conception of what hardcore had been. If you're the type of hardcore fan who only enjoys only the straightforward hardcore, then this ain't for you. LEEWAY has constantly evolved and this is a great musical adjustment they made.
