METALCORE. HUNDREDTH's 2010 debut full-length is now available again. HUNDRETH was spawned and fueled by righteous anger and packaged with their own brand of progressive/melodic hardcore. Every lyric is raw and heartfelt, and is written for a reason. The band was once told that they sound like the soundtrack to drowning, with a style that is both punishing and melodic, akin to SHAI HULUD, STRONGARM and LIFE IN YOUR WAY. HARDCORE-PUNK. Here's the debut 7" from Burlington's HUNGER. Four people got together and aimed for BURN meets MINOR THREAT, this is what ended up. Stripped down hardcore-punk. HUNGER features members of other Vermont bands: CRUCIAL TIMES, NO SUBMISSSION, UNRESTRAINED, REGRET. There were 500 copies of this pressed on black vinyl.
CRUST-METAL. Vinyl debut from Assault City's metallic crust-hardcore HUNGER PAINS. Features guitar work akin to classic metal-tinged Japanese hardcore coupled with the thunderous rhythm of '90s vegan-crust, all backed with thickly layered dissonance courtesy of front-man Weston Czerkies' solo noise project SUNKEN CHEEK.

GRINDCORE. In a lot of ways HUNGRY LIKE RAKOVITZ, from Italy, plays in the traditional vein of grind, but in other ways they make it their own and contort it to make it sound like they want and have the genre bend to their will. HUNGRY LIKE RAKOVITZ is grind to the bone and their "nevermind the light" is filled with raw energy that is ready to burst every time that you press play. There are 12 songs in this release and each one aims right for the jugular from the very beginning. These gents that are seemingly from hell have created something again with their third release that leaves you feeling black and blue and with this type of music that’s a good sign.

GRINDCORE. Take inspiration for their name from a weed-addict cannibal called Daniel Rakowitz. HUNGRY LIKE RAKOVITZ didn't limit themselves to the cliché patterns of the genre and the worship of BRUTAL TRUTH and NAPALM DEATH but inject into their music elements of extreme hardcore and mathcore while certainly not lacking in furious vocals, odd rhythms and riffs that cover a wide range of sounds from punk and thrash to doom. Just think of the now defunct Swiss band NOSTROMO and you will roughly get an idea of what HUNGRY LIKE RAKOVITZ's music sounds like. As a result the songs are definitely not what one would call typical grindcore. Vinyl comes with a gatefold-cover and includes a CD of this entire album.

POST-ROCK. The 100th release from Brooklyn institution Sacred Bones is a "lost album" from pre-CULT YOUTH outfit THE HUNT, "the hunt begins", which was recorded all the way back in 2009. The record has a distinctly anthemic goth-rock streak, not a million miles away from the mystic jangle of CULT OF YOUTH's recent work.
life's womb (2012/VIDEO DISEASE)
HARDCORE. Debut 7" from Syracuse, NY's hottest hardcore band. HUNTED DOWN takes cues from classic US hardcore bands but manages to add in influences from classic Japanese hardcore along the lines of KURO or G-ZET. The vocals almost sound identical to Morikawa from KURO, with the same violent and nihilistic delivery but now it is being spewed forth from a degenerate of the American working class.

FOLK/EMO-PUNK. The new LP from Montreal, Canada's THE HUNTERS, "art electric", captures both the raw power and touching sensibility of the quartet. The band describes the recording process of the album as an amazing experience where they let loose and made no compromises on their sound. GARAGE/PUNK-ROCK. "hairdresser blues" were written and arranged by Seth Bogart (HUNX & HIS PUNX), who also contributed all of the instrumentation, apart from the drums, which were performed Daniel Pitout of noise-punk act NÜ SENSAE. Thematically and musically, "hairdresser blues" departs from the retro-riffic kitsch and camp of "too young to be in love". The end product of Bogart's emotional exorcisms is a record that's personal, prismatic, and positively contagious-an 11-track bouffant of an album with streaks of glam, garage, power-pop. GARAGE/PUNK-ROCK. HUNX AND HIS PUNX have returned with "street punk", a new album filled with the catchiest and most hateful punk songs heard in eons. GARAGE/PUNK-ROCK. "too young to be in love", the follow up to "gay singles", is the band’s 1st proper full-length. Inspired by '60s girl-pop bands like THE RONETTES, as well as THE B-52s and THE RAMONES. Hunx brings the humour, innuendo and sleaze, but there are real feelings in his lyrics as he unleashes his inner lovesick teenager, and that's what makes these songs so endearing. We all know falling in love and having your heart broken hurts, but it's a lot more fun dancing to rock 'n' roll and singing about those experiences. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
POST-PUNK. Four years after the end of his punk band MASSHYSTERI, Robert Hurula returned with a solo album under his last name: "vi ar människorna som vara foraldrar varnade oss for". HURULA follows that album with the "betongbarn". You'll get 3 new songs and a cover cut through the ever-present tension of daily life to make us scream and fight. All the songs bursts with conviction, feeling like revenge on a junior high bully. HURULA knows how to craft a hook, like HÜSKER DÜ. "ge oss natt som ar sant" cuts John Lennon’s "gimme gimme some truth" in half and morphs it into a rager with classic '60s girl group-style harmonies.

POST-PUNK. "vi ar manniskorna vara foraldrar varnade oss for" is the stunning debut from Robert Hurula Petterson (MASSHYSTERI, THE VICIOUS, REGULATIONS). Known for his previous bands, HURULA blends elements of punk, post-punk, garage, and no-wave and delivers what might very well be one of the best of post-punk records of 2014.

GARAGE/INDIE-ROCK. HUSHPUPPIES are back with their 3rd album, "the bipolar drift". A statement of maturity for a band who started in a garage and is now heading to rock the best clubs. Even though the 5 Frenchmen keep on referring to their garage roots (THE KINKS, THE WHO), they added some new sources of inspiration to their sound: kraut-rock, electro and pop.
