new york city (2011/BRIDGE NINE)
HARDCORE. H2O has been a mainstay in hardcore and punk since their inception back in 1995 and have had many influences along the way. These 3 cover songs from H2O were picked to represent NYC. "hard times" by the CRO-MAGS, "friends like you" by SICK OF IT ALL and "pride" by MADBALL. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
nothing to prove (2012/BRIDGE NINE)
HARDCORE. H2O's "nothing to prove" is not a comeback. This is an album that seemed like it was always in progress over the last 7 years. H2O has come together and found their voice with more strength, excitement and energy than ever. Of all their records, this is certainly the best. It's very saccharine, but not as sappy and lightweight as their later albums, and you can hear that they had fun making this album and that all the songs and singalongs on it come from the heart. From start to finish this album does not let up. Colored (transculent orange) vinyl includes a digital download card.
s/t (2011/BRIDGE NINE)
HARDCORE. What more needs to be said? This is where it all began. Originally released in 1996, H2O's eponymous debut is a defining release of heavy, punk-flavored melodic hardcore making this a classic, must-have re-release. Colored vinyl comes with embossed cover and includes a digital download card.
skate (2015/BRIDGE NINE)
HARDCORE. It's been 7 years since the release of a proper full-length album from H2O (2008's critically acclaimed "nothing to prove"). This limited, 2-song 7", "skate", is a teaser for H2O's new album, "use your voice". The a-side of "skate" features the records fast-paced, aggressive title track, and the b-side bears the song the 7" is named after - an even quicker, thrashy, fun one about getting on the board. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.
thicker than water (2012/EPITAPH)
HARDCORE. Since their formation in 1995, H2O has released 5 full-length albums (and a tribute album). Their highly acclaimed 2nd album, "thicker than water", originally released in 1997 on Epitaph Records, resonated with classic elements of East-Coast hardcore and West-Coast melody. "thicker than water" is H2O's essential album, that has been out-of-print on vinyl for years.
use your voice (2016/BRIDGE NINE)
HARDCORE. It's been seven years since the release of a proper full-length album from H2O, but the bicoastal hardcore-punk pillars return with "use your voice", their 1st original studio album since 2008's "nothing to prove". While 2011's covers, "don't forget your roots", was a loving ode to their influences, "use your voice" reignites H2O's classic mix of melodic hardcore aggression and pop-punk bounce. Colored (clear/black-smoked) vinyl includes a digital download card.
HABSYLL / AUN
DOOM/DRONE-ROCK. AUN from Canada has a back catalog rich with harmonic drone, sepulchral ambience and of thick detuned guitar vistas. For this split, AUN ventures into new territory - '70s space-rock on bad acid, where dissonant tones and hallucinogenic melodies slam head-first into slow, pounding beats. HABSYLL is something much more than a metal band or a doom band, it's almost like 20th century classical played with downtuned guitars and massive drums. Think KHANATE, MONARCH, MOSS or FLESHPRESS? You're already thinking too fast, too structured, too riffy. This is some excessive extremist radical dooooooooom. Total pressing of 500 copies!
oh! those sweet banana (2013/UGLY POP)
GARAGE-ROCK. HACKAMORE BRICK's sole 1970 LP on Kama Sutra remains a much-desired artifact of its era, a primordial expression of seminal proto-punk and early VELVETS worship. While there are several great tracks on the LP, "oh! those sweet bananas" was criminally over-looked and should really have been a 45rpm from the start. One of the great lost songs of the period, it's a quick, catchy and instantly addictive burst of NYC garage-punk-pop at the dawn of the '70s. The flip is a beautiful and memorable slow-burner. A slight change of pace for Ugly Pop, but a long-time favourite that anyone with good taste will appreciate. New picture sleeve, one-time-only pressing of 500 copies.
turned up way down (2002/DERANGED)
PUNK 'N' ROLL. Loud high energy, head-bobbin rock 'n' roll comparable to GLUECIFER, AC/DC and ROCKETS FROM THE CRYPT. Previous releases on Spectrasonic sounds and Great American Steak Religion. Members went on in BRUTAL KNIGHTS.
IV (2012/BLIND DATE)
SLUDGE-METAL/HARDCORE. "IV" is the 4th release from this outstanding sludgecore outfit - and they're getting better from release to release. HAGGATHA "II" and "III" was very different! "II" was more slow, in the veins of THOU and "III" was more into the EYEHATEGOD vibes. "IV" is the perfect mix of both - very slow with some killer riffs!! This is without doubt a masterpiece of sludge! Vinyl is housed in a gatefold-sleeve, comes with 16 page booklet.
HAIL THE SUN
culture scars (2016/EQUAL VISION)
POST-HARDCORE. HAIL THE SUN formed in 2009 in California. "culture scars" is HHAIL THE SUN's thought-provoking, 3rd full-length. There is no doubt of where HAIL THE SUN’s roots lie. Their frantic post-hardcore styling bleeds through their blistering talent, re-positioning the likes of ALESANA, CHIODOS and other bands that dominated the 2000s into the forefront of listeners minds. The 10-track album offers a dark mix of personal reflection and social commentary, exploring the relationships between observation vs. action and perception vs. reality - and the effect of each on human emotion and society as a whole. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.
all tomorro's monsters (2016/SILUH)
HALF GIRL is an all-girl-group. "all tomorrow’s monsters"is their debut full-length. Children of the night expect some glorious songs about monsters, broken hearts and werewolves. You'll get '60s melodies meets singalong punk-rock. Sheer heartwarming. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
HALF HEARTED HERO
isn't real (2016/ANIMAL SYTLE)
POP/INDIE-PUNK. New Bedford's HALF HEARTED HERO refuses to fold under the weight of the responsibilities and pressures that come with adulthood. Instead, determined to continue, they started over. "isn't real" is a true album, tied together by a consistent energy and voice. Where 2013's "whatever" and 2011's "running water" were more aggressive, relying on speed and heaviness, "isn't real" displays the band in a more refined manner. There are still high-energy passages full of driving drums and huge distorted guitars that suggest influences from POLAR BEAR CLUB. As "isn't real" progresses, nods to bands like SAVES THE DAY and MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK emerge. Colored vinyl is limited to 500 copies and includes a digital download card.
HALF HEARTED HERO
running water (2011/ANIMAL STYLE)
POP/INDIE-PUNK. From New Bedford, HALF HEARTED HERO play melodic pop-punk along the same lines as A WILHELM SCREAM and FULLBLAST. This release featuring 6 songs of technical fast paced pop-punk from one of the most talented bands. Limited, colored vinyl includes a digital download card.
gurus of peace (2007/ROOKIE)
PUNK-ROCK. The 2nd album of the Flensburg punk trio including Piet of TURBOSTAAT on drums. Founded as a fun project of work mates they got really famous for rockin as hell live on stage. Musically they homage to the punk like CIRCLE JERKS, BLACK FLAG (incl. a cool acapella version of "wasted" this time), mixed with a portion of death-punk ala early TURBONEGRO, old MOTÖRHEAD, Gainsville sound like HOT WATER MUSIC and some garage influences. Recorded in only three days "gurus of peace" shows the band's pure live power, punk music reduced to the prime components without any gimmicks captured.
