bring it on (2005/HELLCAT)
PUNKABILLY. "bring it on" is the 2nd full-length release by rock 'n' rollers, HORRORPOPS. The album is a creepy, catchy, sexy, sordid, booze-drenched maelstrom of, needle prick guitar riffs, chest rattling bass, and ear-popping drums that is sure to grab you by the ears and twist 'em until they fall off! Their special brand of music can not be labeled as one type of music - so they chose to just call it rock! This album is truly a curiously dark musical jewel that almost anyone.
PUNKABILLY. THE HORRORPOPS are a straight up rock 'n' roll band with their roots buried deep in '80s new wave, old-school punk and '50s rockabilly. If you like bands like BLONDIE, SIOUXSIE & THE BANCHEES, THE RAMONES, THE CRAMPS, THE NECROMANTIX, TIGER ARMY, REVERND HORTON HEAT, then THE HORRORPOPS release "hell yeah" is a must-have for your record collection.
drain you (2010/KILL ROCK STARS)
POST/INDIE-ROCK. HORSE FEATHERS has been on the road for the majority of 2010 following of their 3rd full-length. They closed their record release show in their hometown of Portland with a cover of NIRVANA's "drain you" so powerful that the whole town was still talking about it days later! KRS made them jump into the studio between tours to commit this phenomenon to vinyl, and the result is this 7": "drain you" on the a-side and a new original, "bonnet of briars", on the b-side. Vinyl includes a MP3 download code.
thistled spring (2010/KILL ROCK STARS)
POST/INDIE-ROCK. HORSE FEATHERS 3rd album, "thistled spring" displays a rich progression more textured and lush than the band's previous albums, it also captures the skillful interplay of the band's current lineup. This album has an undercurrent of heat that translates to a thawing of frozen hearts, and music which rushes like spring torrents, all of which points to a resurgence of life after a hard winter.
INDIE-POP. The angular, intricate, and intelligent compositions of HOSPITALITY signal a sophisticated new pop voice. Singer Amber Papini's idiosyncratic songwriting and incisive lyrics coupled with the band's rich arrangements on their self-titled debut explore youth, New York, and the bittersweet commingling of past and present in a way that feels just right, right now. "hospitality", while hearkening back to '70s/'80s pop-both ELVIS COSTELLO and KATE BUSH are influences-has an ambitious vision. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
desensitized to violence (2012/FREQUENTLY DELETED)
HARDCORE. Brockton, MA's HOSTAGE bring mean-spirited hardcore to this debut full-length, taking cues from bands like COLD AS LIFE, COLIN OF ARABIA and early BLOOD FOR BLOOD. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.
please remain calm (2012/RUN FOR COVER)
POP/EMO-PUNK. Following their self-titled release, "please remain calm" combines elements of SPRINGSTEEN-esque heartland rock with the band's signature blend of pop melody, '70s punk energy and '80s new-wave panache. This is a great emo-punk album - capturing the defeat, fury, and stagnation of what it feels like to be young in the American decline. Vinyl version includes a digital download card.

HOT HOT HEAT
Knock knock knock (2002/SUB POP)
A first taste of these very recently signed young Canadians. 5 songs of what the fine folks at Aquarius Records in San Francisco are calling “contorto-rock” (do yourself a favor and buy records from Aquarius, they are great, knowldgeable and friendly, plus they do a bang-up mail-order business via their website). Keyboard-driven, angst-riddled, new wave-y rock, recorded (at least in part) by Chris Walla from Death Cab for Cutie, this EP provides evidence of a far more developed sense of F-U-N than typically expected of the Spock set (which, by the way, is a decidedly good thing)
the invasion of the tribbles (2012/UGLY POP)
PUNK-ROCK. At long last, a legitimate reissue of this Calgary band's superb "invasion of the tribbles" 7", originally released on the band's own Social Blemish label in 1980. You'll get 3 tracks of smart, rough and original punk-rock bursting with angst, enthusiasm and youthful naivete. Think a provincial Canadian equivalent to PEER PRESSURE, TAPEWORM, early TELEVISION PERSONALITIES or the second NOW 45.
HOT ROD CIRCUIT
hrc 3 song ep (2011/RUN FOR COVER)
INDIE/EMO-POP. HOT ROD CIRCUIT reunited for a small tour. In conjunction with the brief tour, Run For Cover has released 2 new HOT ROD CIRCUIT songs, as well as a cover of SUPERDRAG's "sucked out". Colored vinyl includes a MP3 download card.
automatic midnight (2010/SWAMI)
POST-PUNK. The ever-popular HOT SNAKES debut album from 2000 is back in print and at home, for the 1st time on Swami Records. "automatic midnight" deliver 11 songs of "over the edge" era WIPERS style post-punk from John Reis (ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, DRIVE LIKE JEHU) and Rick Fork (DRIVE LIKE JEHU, PITCHFORK).
suicide invoice (2010/SWAMI)
POST-PUNK. This is the 2nd full-length from 2002 by this supergroup. Boasting members of ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, DRIVE LIKE JEHU, PITCH FORK, and DELTA 72. Recorded by the band themselves, the sound is a collision of wailing downstrokes and booming, sinister, drone. "suicide invoice" contains a more varied assault than the debut, with more of an emphasis directed towards creating music as a band. As a result, everything sounds more cohesive and ultimately closer to the band's live sonic barrage.
HOT WATER MUSIC
a flight and a crash (2001/NO IDEA/EPITAPH)
EMO-PUNK. With 6 full-length releases, HOT WATER MUSIC has somehow landed themselves on Epitaph. Full of melodic and raspy sing alongs in a progressive yet similar tradition of their earlier material. The 15 track LP includes the vinyl-only track "so many days".
HOT WATER MUSIC
