HEAVY ROACH ACTIVITY [H.R.A.]
good for nothing (2014/TORTURE GARDEN)
HARDCORE. Over a year in the making: the 2nd full-length for these hateful Houston hardcore assholes. "good for nothing2 is 16 tracks of pre-crossover dirty raw septic rotten power rippers from members of VERBAL ABUSE and MORBOSIDAD who try their hardest to stay within Texas state lines as not to let knowledge of their own badass-ness get out into the public. Only 300 of these insults to music pressed!
Chapter eight (2007/U-SONIC)
MELODIC-PUNK. HEIDEROOSJES have been around for 18 years now, which seems incredible for a band in this day and age. They've even won a Dutch Grammy for God's sake! With Cameron Webb at the mixing desk they arguably sound better than ever, and this record, their 8th album, is as good as any they've released. Matching the punk rock attitude the band have always been known for, this record contains a clutch of songs ranging from the poppy to the aggressive and spiteful as the band have been. While nothing we've not heard and seen before, HEIDEROOSJES are a credit to Dutch punk rock and this album maintains the high standards we've come to expect. Featuring guest appearances from Lemmy (MOTÖRHEAD) and Zoli (IGNITE).
raped by sin (2012/WANDS)
CRUST/BLACK-METAL. Vinyl reissue of their very limited demo tape, previously released on WANDS , 200 made on black vinyl. No Repress in sight. Totally overblown, filthy, destructive, blackened, crust-metal insanity. Almost want to call this black-metal but maybe if you throw in some ACCÜSED and INFEST with that sort of insanity you get after getting hit in the face. Adrenaline and hatred mixed with the metallic taste of your own blood. That's what this sounds like.
spass allein genügt nicht mehr (2011/TEENAGE REBEL)
NDW-PUNK. Hamburg-based HEIMATGLÜCK with 12 fantastic NDW influenced punk tracks. If you're into NEONBABIES, IDEAL, NICHTS or early ABWÄRTS you should give HEIMATGLÜCK a spin. The early '80s are back with a bang. Vinyl only release of 500 copies includes a MP3 download card.
early frost (2013/DEATHWISH)
POST-HARDCORE/METAL. "early frost", by HEIRESS, is a grim and discordant artistic journey into the cold soul of the Pacific Northwest. "early frost" opens with an airy posteverything beast and immediately sets an ominous tone (think ENSLAVED covering SLINT). Those 10 tracks from HEIRESS are an essential experience for those who are searching for substance in today's heavy music world. Limited edition of 500 copies.
naysayer/just throats (2012/DEATHWISH)
POST-HARDCORE/METAL. This 7" features 2 brand new exclusive HEIRESS songs and picks up where their split with NARROWS left off. Both songs are grim, dark and ominous post-everything musical explorations. There's no question - this is a stunning release. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.
of great sorrow (2015/MYLENE SHEATH)
POST-HARDCORE/METAL. HEIRESS play a killer style of music that melds elements of hardcore, noise-rock, post metal, and sludge within their sound. HEIRESS' sound can best be described as chaotic, powerful, volatile, and brutal as fuck. "of great sorrow" is the band's latest full-length LP and it serves as a follow-up to their "early frost" LP and split 7" with NARROWS. It features 10 songs of dark, powerful, and dirty as fuck sounding music that's an absolute must listen for fans of BOTCH, BREATHER RESIST, and more current bands such as NARROWS. Highly recommended!
INDUSTRIAL/DRONE/AMBIENT. HEIRS' debut full-length "alchera" is a 43min. movement of oppressive instrumental power, cyclic ritualism and bleak hallucinogenic revelation. Drawing influence from Michael Gira and his Swans legacy, the sledgehammer riffs and industrial pummel of GODFLESH, and continuing Stegeman's incense shrouded low-end incantations from his work with doom dealers WHITEHORSE, combined with Jackson's reverb-soaked noise, "alchera" strips bare the needless excesses of post-rock and metal in favour of something much more concise and affecting. A lurching, drugged-out specter - holding solace in one hand, and vengeance in the other.
INDUSTRIAL/DRONE/AMBIENT. Upon returning from their worldwide tour, HEIRS commenced work on their 2nd album, "fowl". HEIRS turned their attention toward their electronic underbelly, honing in on the industrial vapour and blackened ambience that permeated their debut, "alchera", distilling the underlying sense of melody with an arresting sense of dread. From wheezing blasts of industrial steam to weeping passages of gothic suspense, "fowl" is a fully realised analysis of the repugnant. Its pugilistic rhythmic foundation, reverb soaked guitars, crackling electronics and deadpan dark-wave meditation create an abstract dronescape of industrial dirge and metallic ambience coalesced into an ambitious whole. Vinyl comes with a fantastic design in a heavy gatefold sleeve with thick printed inner sleeves and on 180gr. For fans of SWANS, GODFLESH, NADJA and PELICAN.
HELIO SEQUENCE, THE
Keep your eyes ahead (2008/SUB POP)
INDIE-ROCK. After 3 albums and endless touring and recording, THE HELIO SENQUENCE have recorded their most dynamic, extraordinary work to date. "Keep your eyes ahead" marries the Portland duo’s signature layered keyboards and impossibly big guitars with crisp songwriting and a newfound appreciation for minimalism. While songs from the band’s early releases spanned up to 7 min., evidence of just how refined their craft has become. Vocals were recorded spontaneously in bedroom closets and living rooms, which may explain the haunting urgency you hear in Brandon’s voice. Unapologetic pop and folk meld seamlessly to create songs that are bigger, more epic and polished than anything they’ve ever done. "Keep your eyes ahead" is the sound of a band and a decade-old partnership that’s been invigorated. And that’s exactly how the songs will make you feel: invigorated. Vinyl version includes coupon for free MP3s of the entire album.
HELL & BACK
don't tell me what i can do (2012/DRASTIC ACTION)
MELODIC-HARDCORE. "don't tell me what i can do" is the debut 7§ from these Stuttgart boys. With influences from SHOOK ONES, GOOD RIDDANCE to KIDY DYNAMITE/LIFETIME, these boys got you covered. Don't miss out the 5 tracks on colored vinyl.
HELL AND REASON
s/t (2009/TWELVE GAUGE)
HARDCORE. HELL AND REASON is as dichotomous as their name indicates. Taking influence from heavy-hitting predecessors such as CURSED, TRAGEDY and ENTOMBED, combined with the sociopathic anguish of bands such as SWANS and CHRISTIAN DEATH, they are bound together by the outspoken ideals synonymous with TRIAL and CATHARSIS. Having just completed their self-titled 7", HELL AND REASON are focused on constant progression and aspire to go over the top, taking flight from the stagnant trenches of modern hardcore and metal and into no man's land, running full force into oblivion.
HELL CHILD / WORD SALAD
split (2000/HATER OF GOD)
SLUSGE-METAL/HARDCORE. Japan’s HELLCHILD kicks it off with 2 tracks of their vicious and twisted sludgey drone metal with some of the most unique vocals ever! Heavily textured and possessing hints at subtlety, the music churns along with a nice rhythmic groove. WORD SALAD drop 4 on side-b with a frenzied blend of slower sludgy rhythms and aggressive speeds, surprisingly ripping through a few traditional thrash metal riffs here and there. The vocals are scathing screams that slide right into the music and make for a honed attack. On rare occasion some of the tremolo picking and layering brings a bit of a classic black metal aesthetic in, but the dirtiness surrounding everything is definitely suggestive of a different beast. Power-violence deluxe!
HARDCORE/METAL. You'd better turn it up. Or turn it off. Or get fucked. UK's THE HELL have been raising eyebrows and wrecking havoc in the hardcore scene with the release of their critically acclaimed and despised debut album "you're listening to the hell". Featuring big riffs, memorable hooks and enough shout-along, "groovehammer" was self-recorded and features 13 venomous, in-your-face hardcore anthems.
