INDIE/ALTERNATIVE-ROCK. HEAD HOME is a indie-rock/alternative band from Baltimore. The band is best known for its catchy songs driven by overdriven guitar hooks and the voice combinations of Mike Stearns and Jesse Davis. Think stolen BEATLES riffs with a fuzz pedal and dipped heavily in some J.Mascis (DINOSAUR JR.) sauce with a side order or SUPERCHUNK.

SINGER/SONGWRITER. HEAD OF WANTASTIQUET is the alter ego of Paul Labrecque, an American musician, songwriter now residing in Belgium. Historically, aesthetically and sonically his new work bears genuinely comparison with American primitivism. It’s a mix of psychedelic banjo hymns, apocalyptic space folk and incredible drugged out soul-whispers. It layers banjos, guitars and smoke as though they were shimmering veins of black pearls, pulsing against the scarlet dawn. HEAD OF WANTASTIQUET manages to take a conceptual precept as dark as life itself, and invests it with an inner glow that churns our own black hearts like butter.

HARDCORE. In 1987, the alternative scene was dead, punk was becoming passe, hardcore was charging full steam ahead and speed/thrash-metal was just starting to make an impact. It was during this volatile musical time in Orange County, that HEADFIRST was conceived. Serving as a marker of California's hardcore history, this collection of the band's entire studio output lays out the timeline of the band's growth and progression as they begin to come into themselves. "the complete recordings: 1987 - 1992" triple LP includes both 7"s, their LP, both demos, and 2 unreleased tracks that were slated for a Workshed compilation that never came out.

INDIE/POP. With "Some racing, some stopping", the Champaign, Illinois trio HEADLIGHTS steps away from the indie-rock of its previous 2 efforts and jumps headlong into…indie pop territory. Based around acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, drums and other instrumentation, this record combines the pop sensibilities of previous efforts with a more restrained approach to songcraft that results in a clearer, concise musical vision. "Some racing, some stopping" has the ability to lull you into a dream-like trance, but still keep you tapping your foot all the while. How many records can you say that about?

POST/NOISE-ROCK. In addition to evoking grand hyperboles from every blog under the sun, HEALTH's album inspired several other musicians to match the band's creativity. They reimagined, recut, and remixed, and the result is "health/disco". Featuring remixes from CRYSTAL CASTLES, ACID GIRLS, CFCF, PINK SKULL, THRUST LAB, NARCTRAX, and more, these tracks take HEALTH's ethereal chanting, screeching noise, and gauzy atmosphere and forcefully apply them to the dance floor.

CRUST-HARDCORE. And another essential '90s classic reissued. Remastered with 3 additional compilation tracks and new artwork and inserts. A volley of abrasive, thrashing, and overpowering blasts of hardcore fury! HEALTH HAZARD were a short-lived english band with caustic female vocals, speeding thrash with hammering guitar and throttling drums. HEALTH HAZARD turned into SUFFER (with a darker bent and complexity) and members went on with DOOM, BOXED IN, WAR ALL THE TIME, and nummerous other project in the UK underground.

PUNK-ROCK. This is the debut 7" from Bakersfield's HEART BEATZ (features 1/2 of the CONTAMINATORS). You'll get tons of reverb, paranoia, depression on this fuzzed out upbeat punk-rock 7". Influenced by the "Dangerhouse & Masque Era" L.A.-bands but taking that influence and destroying it with no talent. Next release will be on Germany's P.TRASH records. Limited one-time pressing of 475 copies. Better get this one now!

POP/EMO-PUNK. "dulce" is HEART TO HEART's 2nd full-length and is layered with both dark and melodic-punk elements. HARDCORE. After their full-length "hell is other people", HEARTLESS returns with 8 blasts of steel city hardcore. HARDDCORE. HEARTLESS are an abrasive, dark and dirty metallic hardcore band from from Pittsburgh. Like MASAKARI, HEARTLESS play a brand of hardcore that could easily be passed off on first listen as power-violence, but upon repeated listens, one will uncover an array of other influences like metallic hardcore (ala INTEGRITY), straight up crust and burly, bottom-heavy dark hardcore (like CURSED, BLACK BREATH or NAILS). "hell is other people" is their raging debut full-length album. It's not a stretch to consider HEARTLESS worthy to walk among some of the recent crop of absolutely killer bands on Southern Lord. Thick 180gr vinyl comes with gatefold jacket.

EMO-POST-HARDCORE. Two years after the band's inception, Salt Lake City's HEARTLESS BREAKERS is ready to show the world what they're made of with a full-length titled "the great give back". The 10-song record is just long enough to give listeners a taste of the band's style without being too lengthy or intimidating. The result is an easily digestible and exceptionally enjoyable listening experience. The band cites influences such as TAKING BACK SUNDAY, THRICE and THE JULIANA THEORY, but there are touches of BRAND NEW to be found throughout "the great give bgack" as well. This is dynamic in its emotionality and delivery, and is sure to please fans of emo and post-hardcore. Colored vinyl is limited to 500 copies and includes a digital download card.

PUNK-ROCK. The Bay-Area's HEARTSOUNDS is back with a new full-length album. Focusing heavily on technically-driven guitar work, thundering drums, harmony-laden, melodic and dual-vocal performances. While the band has amplified their love of the riff and faster tempos, the 10 tracks that comprise "internal eyes" manage to retain the punk-rock heart and hook-driven structures that many fans of the band's first 2 albums have come to appreciate. "internal eyes" manages to delve into exciting new ground for the band both musically and vocally, while retaining the same '90s Epitaph/Fat Wreck-inspired foundation that has shaped the band's sound thus far. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card and is limited to 400 copies.
