HANG THE BASTARD
sex in the seventh circle (2014/CENTURY MEDIA)
STONER-METAL. There has been a distinct change in the sound of HANG THE BASTARD since their 1st album "hellfire reign". This lots 2nd offering "sex in the seventh circle" shows a band maturing into a well refined riffing machine that has resulted in an album destined to leave a significant mark. Rearing its head for another assault of pedal to the metal riffage, is the beastly title track "sex in the seventh circle", which can be heralded as the standout track on this ball-busting album. It walks the fine line between that retro '70s stoner sound and modern day sonic fusion.
HANK WOOD AND THE HAMMERHEADS

HANK WOOD AND THE HAMMERHEADS
stay home (2014/TOXIC STATE)
HARDCORE-PUNK. HANK WOOD AND THE HAMMERHEADS have been playing sporadically. Their irreverent live show is incendiary showing a really angry front man backed by a volatile band playing the nastiest keyboard garage punk you can imagine. They're one of the most unique and exciting bands in punk today... kinda surfy, kinda garagey riffs augmented with SONICS style farfisa organ, a supplementary percussionist that makes some totally wild rhythms, and vocals that are more like really simple rapping than any punk vocalist you've heard before. It's a wild combination, but it's completely infectious, as anyone who has heard the band will tell you. Comes with a large poster and foldover lyric insert.
It's a living (2008/WRONG)
PUNK-ROCK. The album is exactly what you would expect from a bunch of toothless RAMONES-loving ex-hockey players - it's big, it's loud, it's unquestionably dumb in places. "It's a living" brings together all of their live favourites. Their reverence of the RAMONES is well-noted on many of their songs, though their influence is perhaps nowhere more obviously featured than on their playful and loving, though still thoroughly storming, tribute to the late Joey Ramone. The set is equally stomping, delivering big fat high-energy punk-rock tunes , all cut together with hilarious radio interviews that create a kind of document of a band on the road, offering a fast, frenetic and massively enjoyable insight into the HANSON BROTHER' talents in a live setting.
s/t (2010/SUB POP)
ALTERNATIVE-ROCK. HAPPY BIRTHDAY formed in 2008 and was supposed to be a project and a one-show band. They enjoyed playing with each other so much that they decided to keep doing it. Kyle Thomas has applied his voice to an impressive array of genres: psych-folk in FEATHERS, stoner-rock in WITCH, glam-rock as KING TUFF. On HAPPY BIRTHDAY's debut, this voice meets perhaps its ideal application: simulated! Although the debut album from HAPPY BIRTHDAY was initially shrouded in mystery, a few spins later and it’s provided a real pleasant surprise. Whilst it may not necessarily be too high-brow or clever in it’s nature. This record is 35min. of catchy, hook filled glam-punk fun.
so bunted/my zone (2015/TOP SHELF)
POP/EMO-PUNK. The Bay-Area sludgy pop-rockers worked with producer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor, Whirr) on this 2 track 7", creating a sound reminiscent of SUPERHEAVEN, OVLOV and WEEZER. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.
HAPPY HOOKERS FOR JESUS
s/t (2014/ERSTE THEKE)
PUNK-ROCK. If you are looking for a new and outstanding band from Europe, here you got it. What you get is pure Danish unrelenting punk-rock damage. Take the smarmy music oft THE URINALS, speed it up to 150% and crank the volume up to the max and you hear what the HAPPY HOOKERS FOR JESUS are all about. This 7" is a little bastard of punk that‘s stuck in your head with the first listen. A nihilistic feedback orgy in four acts, packed with merciless insanity, screeching guitars, distorted echo-voice and a totally wasted i-don't-give-a-flying-fuck-attitude, all thrown together in a stinky garage. So, get it or get lost!
anger (2015/FLINCH LUMIN)
POWER-VIOLENCE HARDCORE. Infamous recordings of raw and ferocious hardcore finally available on vinyl. Recorded in 1993, just as so-called, power-violence was about to take hold. Features the gutteral vocal monstrosities of Dan Lactose (SPAZZ). Mixing thrashing speed and intensity, influenced by the likes of INFEST and CROSSED OUT, with grinding sludge ala GREIF and EYEHATEGOD. Vinyl is limited to 300 copies, comes with handstamped labels, a HAPPY? sticker and includes a digital download card.
frowns vs downs (2012/FYSISK FORMAT)
HARDCORE. The 2nd 7" shows the Oslo-based band improving on all levels on the recipe of their 1st 7": making the best old-school hardcore since 1982. Like the debut, the 4 tracks are recorded and mixed by the band themselves and features artwork by Esra Roise. This 7" is a testament to how wonderful music can be when when young men reach expert level in stupidity and aggression and nail it with 100% precision and taste. Limited to 500 copies.
sleep tall (2013/FYSISK FORMAT)
HARDCORE. "sleep tall" consists of 15 tracks written after the principle of maximum musical energy effect per second. "sleep tall" is not a tribute to BAD BRAINS, BLACK FLAG or MINOR THREAT. It is a competent refinement of a genre that most new bands misinterpret. Features former members of Norway's most infamous straight-edge bands, TIEBREAK and FAIRFUCK.
sinister vibes (2015/SVART)
ROCK/PUNK/METAL. The Finnish 4-piece rock n' roll band HARD ACTION is releasing their 1st full-length on Svart Records. Following the debut 7" "dead dogs" the band takes up where they left off with the 1st release only to take it up a notch with this 10-track LP. The music is deeply rooted in 1970's rock and late-70's punk-rock, and the simple-yet-catchy songs are topped with burning hot lead guitar parts, so expect nothing less than an album filled with electric guitar worshipping rock music. Featuring members of SPEEDTRAP, DEATH TOLL 80K, FORCED KILL etc. This is pit slamming rock 'n' roll, full of fire and energy with no frills. Each song, more often than not, starts at a ferocious pace and HARD ACTION don’t let up for a second.
we re hard left (2015/FUTURE PERFECT)
PUNK-ROCK. Brought together by the music, held together by the outrage - HARD LEFT is a hard-mod/punk band born out of a desire to explore leftist political ideas and marry them to rabble-rousing music worthy of the worldwide struggle against capital. Far from a dry exercise in doctrinaire thought, HARD LEFT's songs are great punk first and foremost, and ripping good fun. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
hard nuts and hard cunts (2012/MALOKA)
OI!/PUNK-ROCK. HARD SKIN's "hard nuts and hard cunts" is the brilliant and groundbreaking debut album from one of the fiercest oi-punk bands to emerge from the streets of London. Originally released in 1996, it was a delivery of tongue in cheek humor into an all-too-serious scene. HARD SKIN consist of members from UK's anarcho comedy crew WAT TYLER and anarcho punx THATCHER ON ACID doing the skinhead-limbo better than every oi! band ever did - but they do pay them homage... of course!
we are the wankers (2013/1234 GO!)
OI!/PUNK-ROCK. A fresh bit of dross and a some old toss from the UK's number one band! Featuring "we are the wankers", "two bob cunt" (previously unheard alternate version) and "fuck it" (previously unreleased). Those laughable limeys HARD SKIN are back with these 3 tracks of fun oi that the whole family can raise a pint glass to. OI! OI!
we're the fucking george singles 1978 to 1981 (2012/JT CLASSICS)
OI!/PUNK-ROCK. "we're the fucking george - singles 1978 to 1981" has 15 tracks on it compiled from singles and released between 1994 and 2011. In case you haven't heard HARD SKIN - you are missing out! They are fucking brilliant. It's oi! but done like the old days when it was good. Bloddy, angry, basic and anthemic. The LP doesn't come with a download because real skinheads don't use computers!
