tower to the people (2011/THE YEAR IS ONE)
METAL-PUNK. "street-metal" may be how HIGHTOWER used to describe themselves, but there music has grown and evolved to represent the dudes' weirdly eclectic interests. Harsh thrash and even progressive come together seamlessly, while vintage metal riffs chug merrily alongside grating punk. It's not so much that HIGHTOWER wears a lot of hats that don't go together, but rather that the music they make has become a reflection of the pins crowding for space on their jean jackets. Handnumbered out of 500 copies.
run dry (2013/TOXIC POP)
POST-PUNK. HIGHWAY CROSS is the product of 4 of northern Virginia's most talented and esteemed veterans of the hardcore/punk scene. Members played in MAJORITY RULE, CLOAG/DAGGER, SHOUTBUS and TRIAC. The band certainly worships at the altar of Rick Froburg (OBITS, HOT SNAKES, DRIVE LIKE JEHU) and it shows through loud, crunchy, angular riffs backed by pounding, driving rhythms. Vinyl includes a digital download and is limited to 300 copies.
trenches/bikini atol (2011/X-MIST)
INDIE/POST-ROCK. New Californian band featuring ex- and current members of the BAD DUDES, SILVER DAGGERS, and BIPOLAR BEAR aka TURRKS! Maybe they sound anything like these, or maybe not? Our initial thought was it sounds like STEEL POLE BATH TUB meets LES SAVY FAV. Someone else said it's like LES SAVY FAV songs interpreted by KARP. And if you're unfamiliar with any of these references, then you may think as well of something like being stuck in between DEERHOOF and DEERHUNTER. Vinyl includes a MP3 download card.
death is infinitive (2001/REVELATION)
HARDCORE. This Seattle band has persevered through the trials that probably would have torn any other band apart. Taking their chaotic metal hardcore edge to a new level, this release marks the first release featuring John Pettibone (ex-UNDERTOW and NINEIRONSPITFIRE) on vocals. Heavy and technical metal hardcore that brings to mind BOTCH, "until your heart stops" era CAVE-IN, and CONVERGE.
ground breaking ceremony (1999/REVELATION)
HARDCORE/METAL. Formed to provide an outlet for each member of the group's expression of anger, and political and emotional rage, HIMSA continues to slay those in the hardcore scene who can keep up with their explosive fury. Ten brand new tracks that smash through the barrriers of aggressive rock with a whirlwind assault of extreme hardcore defiance soaked in an acid-bath of controlled mayhemic noise. Features former members TRIAL, HARKONEN, CHRIST and more.
HARDCORE. HIMSA was forged in 1998 to provide outlets of each members' expression, anger, and political and emotional rage. Initiated by members of the Seattle band TRIAL, the genesis of HIMSA began at a basement practice. With the addition of the multi-talented Aaron Edge (HARKONEN, GENUINE etc.) on guitar and Christian on vocals, the makings for a complete aural and mental assault were complete.
Shake their hips (2007/SLOVENLY)
GARAGE-PUNK. 14 blistering tracks of teenage angst. These three young chaps are sure to make the likes GG ALLIN, GUITAR WOLF, THE REATARDS, and even THE STONES very proud. Eric of OBLIVANS recently showed his approval with a release on his fine GONER RECORDS label. Excruciatingly loud trash punk straight from the garage that blares so loud that we applied a warning label for your speakers. Don't miss this one!
assassins of war (2006/DEEP SIX)
THRASH-METAL. Long running Southern California metal behemoths HIRAX, and originators of thrash-metal music, release a 5 song mini album. More than any other HIRAX record "assassins of war" takes you on a thrash-metal journey and gives you a sound of the band like you have never heard before! Fans of the band will chew off their own faces to get their skulls on this shit.
blasted in bangkok (2001/DEEP SIX)
THRASH-METAL. A reissue of the 3-song demo recorded in 1987 by Southern California metal gods. Includes the original 1984 version of the group's massive "bombs of death" as a bonus track.
el rostro de la muerte (2010/DEEP SIX)
THRASH-METAL. "el rostro de la muerte" ("the face of death)" is the band’s 1st full-length since the 2004 release "the new age of terror". Musically, it combines everything that HIRAX is known for and much, much more! This album returns to 1987 were "hate fear and power" left off. True thrash-metal. Cover art by Ed Repka.
not dead yet (2012/WAR ON MUSIC/DEEP SIX)
THRASH-METAL. This release combines 2 classic HIRAX full-lengths - "raging violence" came out in 1985 and "hate, fear and power" came out in 1986. The legendary HIRAX were an influential group in the Los Angeles thrash/speed-metal movement of the mid '80's. Originally released by Metal Blade, both releases sums up perfectly the raw energy and vicious metal force that HIRAX was, and remains today. "not dead yet" features the iconic artwork of Pushead, also including a four-page insert featuring rare photos and flyers from the era. Pressing limited to 1000 copies.
thrash and destory (2008/DEEP SIX)
THRASH-METAL. Following the 2007 releases of the "assassins of war" and "chaos and brutality", the Long Beach thrashers unveil their DoLP/DVD+CD set, "thrash and destroy". The DoLP/DVD features the band's entire 75min. performance at the Keep It True Festival IX (2007) in Germany. This is a raw, kick ass show to a sold-out audience. Never before seen live footage: fists flying, stage diving, heads banging. Six in-your-face professional camera angles. More than that, the DVD includes a 12 song bonus set recorded live at the Metal Forces Night (2007), in Germany. The package also includes a bonus audio CD with the complete 75min. performance. DoLP is limited to just 500 copies on colored vinyl!
HIRO / AMALTHEA
split (2008/SM MUSIK)
SCREAMO/EMO-HARDCORE. AMALTHEA from Sweden take a new dimension - they continue with their epic end '90s influenced emocore stuff on side-a and on the flip side we have new songs by HIRO (ex GANTZ) from France. HIRO play wonderful, emotional french screamo-hardcore in the way of traditional french bands from the early '90s or japanese ENVY (their earlier stuff for shure). This is a great split with nice cover artwork.
HIRO / BRUME RETINA
split (2008/APE MUST NOT KILL)
SCREAMO-HARDCORE. This is a split from 2 French screamo bands. HIRO (features members of GANTZ) playing long, epic songs, with a hint of modern post-rock and bits of stoner influences. This is their 1st output. BRUME RETINA playing frenetic, fast screaming music, with odd song structures and beautiful guitar melodies.
HIRSCH EFFEKT / ADOLAR
split (2012/KAPITÄN PLATTE)
POST-HARDCORE/PROGRESSIVE-ROCK. This split 7" is the 2nd part of the Kpitän Platte 7" serie with 2 german bands covering each other. Once again in a silk-screen cover that you can fold out fan-shaped. Vinyl is limited to 500 records and comes with a digital download card.
