II (2011/LAST ANTHEM)
HARDCORE. From Richmond, HEATHENS boast former members of DOWN TO NOTHING and CAST ASIDE but bring a darker, heavier side to their music, mixing slow dirges of sludge with blast beats, bringing in elements of GRIEF, EYEHATEGOD and MIND ERASER but keeping a modern hardcore feel.
HEAVEN & HELL
the devil you know (2009/ROADRUNNER)
HEAVY-METAL. When metal masters Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice reunited for the first time in 15 years to record new bonus tracks for Rhino's 2007 compilation "black sabbath: the dio years", an otherworldly force reignited their musical connection. They reformed as HEAVEN & HELL (named for the classic '80 album that was the lineup's debut as SABBATH) and staged a triumphant. Fueled by their chemistry on the road, the quartet returned to the studio to record "the devil you know", their 1st new set of original material since 1992's "dehumanizer". "the devil you know" ranks right along some of the great BLACK SABBATH albums, with or without Dio. The days of watered-down commercial SABBATH records are gone. This is pure BLACK SABBATH!
HEAVEN IN HER ARMS
POST-HARDCORE. Some people in the past have called the likeable Japanese guys in HEAVEN IN HER ARMS the younger brother of ENVY. Descriptions like excellent Japanese screamo fused with ideas of progressive-hardcore and massively bombastic emotional hardcore with extreme vocals were established. They’re now finally back with the 2nd full-length named “paraselene". It’s necessary to say that, if HEAVEN IN HER ARMS ever was the younger brother of ENVY, this brother now finally left the family to walk his own, independent, and autonomous path. HEAVEN IN HER ARMS have created their own sophisticated soundscape and a new mixture of a massive wall of sound on the one hand, and intelligent, calm, and atmospheric parts on the other hand. This version has thick gatefold covers and a printed insert, and is on 180gr vinyl.
HEAVEN IN HER ARMS / AUSSITOT MORT
POST-HARDCORE. In line with the "duplex coated obstruction" 10", Denovali and HEAVEN IN HER ARMS are releasing another record together - a split with the french post-hardcore heroes AUSSITOT MORT. Since HEAVEN IN HER ARMS and AUSSITOT MORT have been close friends for years and have shared several tours, this split was definitely overdue. You'll get 2 brand new songs from AUSSITOT MORT - one epic piano based intro and a rather metal-oriented new track from HEAVEN IN HER ARMS.
prominence (2013/CAPTURED TRACKS)
INDIE/ELECTRO-POP. "prominence" is the 2nd full-length in as many years from Texas transplant John Pena. Managing to sound inventive and not quite like anything else with such a limited palette is a rare and commendable feat. From the slide guitar and pulsing nylon string samples to the flamingo call and deep kick combo HEAVENLY BEAT keeps the whole affair sounding fresh, interesting and natural. Vinyl includes a digital download card.
s/t (2012/OUTER BATTERY)
PSYCHEDELIC/METAL/NOISE. J Mascis (DINOSAUR JR.) rounds up a couple partners-in-crime from his adolescence with an eye - and ear - towards shredding harder, wailing louder, and generally melting faces even more brutally than ever before. Stoner dirtbags cloaked in mystery, j's longtime buddies Pete Cougar and Johnny Pancake lay down the heavy rhythm base for j's massive licks and blistering guitar mastery. Ever wondered what BAND OF GYPSIES would sound like if you mixed it up with Japanese hard-psych and smoked it through a giant power bong? Well, now you know. Don't say we didn't warn you.
s/t (2014/BAD REP)
HARDCORE. HEAVY CHAINS is here to uphold the tradition of strong, Jersey Shore hardcore with a sound that takes cues from a wide array of hardcore influences like BREAKDOWN, THINK I CARE and 86 MENTALITY. Bad Rep Records decided to press the band's demo onto vinyl which is limited to 500 copies.
s/t (2014/RAWMANTIC DISASTERS)
HARDCORE. After the brilliant debut 7", HEAVY NUKES strike back. Again, 8 incredible raw brutal Swedish old-school hardcore tunes in the vein of SHITLICKERS and ANTI-CIMEX. No compromises on this one, just pure swedish ultra mega raw hardcore! Comes with nice silkscreened cover.
HEAVY ROACH ACTIVITY [H.R.A.]
good for nothing (2014/TORTURE GARDEN)
HARDCORE. Over a year in the making: the 2nd full-length for these hateful Houston hardcore assholes. "good for nothing2 is 16 tracks of pre-crossover dirty raw septic rotten power rippers from members of VERBAL ABUSE and MORBOSIDAD who try their hardest to stay within Texas state lines as not to let knowledge of their own badass-ness get out into the public. Only 300 of these insults to music pressed!
Chapter eight (2007/U-SONIC)
MELODIC-PUNK. HEIDEROOSJES have been around for 18 years now, which seems incredible for a band in this day and age. They've even won a Dutch Grammy for God's sake! With Cameron Webb at the mixing desk they arguably sound better than ever, and this record, their 8th album, is as good as any they've released. Matching the punk rock attitude the band have always been known for, this record contains a clutch of songs ranging from the poppy to the aggressive and spiteful as the band have been. While nothing we've not heard and seen before, HEIDEROOSJES are a credit to Dutch punk rock and this album maintains the high standards we've come to expect. Featuring guest appearances from Lemmy (MOTÖRHEAD) and Zoli (IGNITE).
raped by sin (2012/WANDS)
CRUST/BLACK-METAL. Vinyl reissue of their very limited demo tape, previously released on WANDS , 200 made on black vinyl. No Repress in sight. Totally overblown, filthy, destructive, blackened, crust-metal insanity. Almost want to call this black-metal but maybe if you throw in some ACCÜSED and INFEST with that sort of insanity you get after getting hit in the face. Adrenaline and hatred mixed with the metallic taste of your own blood. That's what this sounds like.
spass allein genügt nicht mehr (2011/TEENAGE REBEL)
NDW-PUNK. Hamburg-based HEIMATGLÜCK with 12 fantastic NDW influenced punk tracks. If you're into NEONBABIES, IDEAL, NICHTS or early ABWÄRTS you should give HEIMATGLÜCK a spin. The early '80s are back with a bang. Vinyl only release of 500 copies includes a MP3 download card.
early frost (2013/DEATHWISH)
POST-HARDCORE/METAL. "early frost", by HEIRESS, is a grim and discordant artistic journey into the cold soul of the Pacific Northwest. "early frost" opens with an airy posteverything beast and immediately sets an ominous tone (think ENSLAVED covering SLINT). Those 10 tracks from HEIRESS are an essential experience for those who are searching for substance in today's heavy music world. Limited edition of 500 copies.
naysayer/just throats (2012/DEATHWISH)
POST-HARDCORE/METAL. This 7" features 2 brand new exclusive HEIRESS songs and picks up where their split with NARROWS left off. Both songs are grim, dark and ominous post-everything musical explorations. There's no question - this is a stunning release. Colored vinyl includes a digital download card.
of great sorrow (2015/MYLENE SHEATH)
POST-HARDCORE/METAL. HEIRESS play a killer style of music that melds elements of hardcore, noise-rock, post metal, and sludge within their sound. HEIRESS' sound can best be described as chaotic, powerful, volatile, and brutal as fuck. "of great sorrow" is the band's latest full-length LP and it serves as a follow-up to their "early frost" LP and split 7" with NARROWS. It features 10 songs of dark, powerful, and dirty as fuck sounding music that's an absolute must listen for fans of BOTCH, BREATHER RESIST, and more current bands such as NARROWS. Highly recommended!
